okay. this is one of my faves on the album. i can totally relate. and i've recently been at this same point in my life. here's my opinion of what the song means: VERSE 1: "Out on your own Cold and alone again Can this be what you really wanted, baby?" MEANING: this person left you. broke you into a thousand pieces. now they're the ones left out in the cold. and sarcastically you ask "is this what you wanted to happen?? CHORUS: "Blame it on me Set your guilt free Nothing can hold you back now" MEANING: you're willing to take all the blame for their life turning to absolute misery in order for them to feel better about themself. you love this person that much. VERSE 2: "Now that you're gone I feel like myself again Grieving all things I can't repair" MEANING: you've changed yourself so much to make this person happy while you were together that you totally lost who you used to be. that is until now that they are gone. causing you to find yourself. the real you. once again. yet. you still are mourning your loss of this person's love. CHORUS: "And willing....... To let you blame it on me Set your guilt free Nothing can hold you back now, love" MEANING: pretty much the same meaning as before. but the fact that she adds "love" at the ending just kind of adds more an 'obsessive' kind of feel to it. BRIDGE: "I can't change who I am Not this time I won't lie to keep you near me And in this short life There's no time to waste on giving up My love wasn't enough" MEANING: you refuse to comprimise who you are to make this person love you. not again. you will not lie to make them think you are who they want you to be. this life is to short to give up but if your love is not enough then there is no point in holding on. CHORUS: "And you can blame it on me Just set your guilt free I don't wanna hold you back now love" MEANING: the same meaning in the fact that you are still willing to blame their pain on you to make themselves feel better. but you are also at this point starting to believe that you, in fact, are the reason for their pain ("i don't wanna hold you back now, love"). I'm not saying this is in fact the meaning of the song but it is what I interpreted. I do believe this is the meaning though. But I guess it's all a matter of opinion. |

okay. this has to be one of my faves on fallen. here's my opinion on what the song means: VERSE: "I linger in the doorway Of alarm clock screaming monsters calling my name Let me stay Where the wind will whisper to me Where the raindrops as they're falling tell a story" MEANING: you're sleeping. dreaming. fantasizing. all of a better world. a better place. a better time. you all of a sudden wake up to your alarm clock screaming at you. it brings you back to the cruelty and coldness of reality. a place you would rather not be. CHORUS: "In my field of paper flowers And candy clouds of lullaby I lie inside myself for hours And watch my purple sky fly over me" MEANING: this is the description of your alternate reality. pretty paper flowers. the sweetness of candy clouds that keep you in your silent sleep. you can find yourself lying there for all eternity as you watch the beautiful purple sky fly over you. VERSE 2: "Don't say I'm out of touch With this rampant chaos - your reality I know well what lies beyond my sleeping refuge The nightmare - I built my own world to escape" MEANING: even though you love dreaming more than living in such a cruel world, you can still tell the difference between dreams and reality. but reality is a nightmare. and you know how to escape. the only way is to dream something better than the world you know. (repeat chorus) BRIDGE: "Swallowed up in the sound of my screaming Cannot cease for the fear of silent nights Oh how I long for the deep sleep dreaming The goddess of imaginary light" MEANING: when you awaken, all your fears are real. right before your eyes. all you want is to leave the harshness of real life. you long for your dreams. you crave them. they are the only thing that keeps you from losing yourself. (repeat chorus) |

| i honestly believe that this song is about one of her friends cutting themselves. just the way the lyrics are phrased. that's the only thing that makes sense to me. i can kinda see how it could mean someone witnessing a murder. but i don't think that's what it's about. i think it's about a friend that cuts | |

| okay everyone. this song is about her little sister bonnie who died when she was 3 (amy was 6) from an unknown disease. and amy didn't want to believe it happened. i can DEFINATELY relate to this song because my brother died last year (feb 9, 2006) in a car accident. he was only 19. and in the song she kinda goes into her own world of what she wants to believe is reality. i know the feeling. | |
