I don't really think this song is as much about worrying about physical appearance as it is about the overall image that someone projects to others. I think what he's really saying is that he's given way too much time and thought watching what he says and does to keep from embarassing himself in front of a girl he has feelings for. He's realized that this selfconscioucness is really only hindering him by creating unecessary awkwardness that prevents the relationship from moving foward at all. When he says, "I’d been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror/and bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer," he means that he's tired of holding himself back and having to try to hard to connect with this girl because of it. "I won’t hesitate no more.../It cannot wait. I’m sure./There’s no need to complicate," is him promising that he will let go of the insecurities and cautions that are "complicatiing" their relationship so that they can become closer and grow stronger together.
That's my take on it, anyway. |

Ha! I know. I have been in love with IAG for about a year and a half now, and I still find it utterly impossible to understand how people think I Am Ghost comes even remotely close to being comparable to ANY band. Honestly. I Am Ghost has a completely unique sound and their lyrics are amazing and deep. I doubt anyone will ever find a band like IAG. And yes, I love MCR and AFI and HIM, but to put them in the same rank as I Am Ghost is unfathomable to me......haha GOD I sound like such a groupie! But i really do love this band. I wish more people knew about them....at the same time I don't though, because I woldn't want a bunch of posers acting like they really know IAG's music. Not saying I know everything about them or that I am better than other people. I have a few "friends" that pretend to really be into certain types of music, though what they really want is to be part of the stereotype. |

Yeah, it's an amazing song...it actually made me cry the first time I listened to it. It's really deep and kind of depressing though, because it's the last goodbye between the angel and the vampire when they dedcide that the best thing for their love is to let each other go. The first time I listened to the album I thought that the vampire died, but the angel and the vampire really decide that if they stay together they'll always be fighting the battle so they decide to return to where they were before they fell in love. |

yeah, it's an amazing song. But then, it's by I Am Ghost, so its beauty is not exactly surprising. Honestly, they are one of the most amazing bands that I have ever had the privelege of hearing. |

| I Am Ghost – Pretty People Never Lie/Vampires Never Really Die Lyrics

blakpheonix---actually the name doesn't really mean anything, Steven Juliano---lead singer---was reading a poem and one of the lines said something like "Never again will you see me, i am ghost" and he just liked the sound of it. And Three-two_one's interpretation is really good, I never thought of most of that...but the part where the vampire kills the angel i don't think is right because the album Lovers' Requiem is about an angel and a vampire who fall in love and actually begin a kind of epic battle between Heaven and Hell so they can be together. In the last two songs, the vampire realizes that for them to be together, they would always be fighting that battle, and he wants the angel to be happy so they decide that the best way for them to show their love for each other is actually for them to let each other go, so the angel can't have been killed. But the interpretation makes a lot of sense besides that last part |

Okay, so you guys are asking about the total meaning behind Lovers' Requiem...so basically it's about an angel and a vampire that fall in love and fight to be together, but the devil wants the angel killed and the angels want the vampire killed. So basically, the whole album is about them falling in love and trying to be together. I haven't really figured every song out...but I think Our Friend Lazarus Sleeps is about the angel and the vampire trying to run away together but I'm not sure...if you watch the music vid it shows a bunch of scenes where the band is being chased. And then throughout the album I think the angel and the vampire eventually begin a war between Heaven and Hell, the lyrics in the song Lovers' Requiem kinda hint at that..."show me why we won't let go, and why we still must pray" says that they will never let go and that they will always try to find a way to be together. Also "for you and me, a war has just begun." And in "we are always searching" repeats the idea that they will always fight to be together. Okay, and I can go on and on about each song...but I'll skip some lol...and in This Is Home I think it's about a kind of final battle to be together, but the vampire is wounded and then in Beyond the Hourglass, the battle is over and the vampire and the angel are remembering their love for each other and everything they've gone throught to be together but at the end of the sone, the vampire dies. "Can you remember? Lie close to me; my breathing won't last long." "My hands of bone will feel your touch; tonight we sit and remember." So it's sort of a last converation between them............okay, guys, sorry that was a pretty long explanation...but I'm basically in love with I Am Ghost. |
