I feel like he is talking about/debating free will vs determinism. If you are living in or holding onto the past the it it's like looking at a timeline and you don't feel freedom from it. But if you allow the past to fall away then you are only the present moment on the timeline and you feel freedom. I think the two people are the two different ways he can look at himself. From above he is seeing the entirety of his life, but feels no freedom, and below he is focused on his present and feels free. I have trouble dissecting the rest of it, as it becomes more vague. I also agree. JF ROCKS and this is one of my favorite songs of his. Dissecting his stuff is hard, and I really do not want to overstep my bounds. I love how I feel like I get part of this song, but then it gets away from me and I can only allow it to wash over me. |
