| Panda Bear – Take Pills Lyrics | 16 years ago |

For other albums like this check out: Beach Boys: Pet Sounds or 'Today' which was there other good one. If you want hipster cred get Beach Boys 'Smiley Smile' on record. It almost identical to this. The first time I heard Panda Bear I honestly couldn't believe it wasn't Brian Wilson. I hope his next record is similar to this style. |

| The Silver Jews – What Is Not But Could Be If Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"What was not but could have been was my obsession way back when now I just remember this what is not but could be if what is not but could be if we could be crossing this abridged abyss into beginning and failure's got you in its grasp and you're reaching for your very last vicious beginning" i think this is talking about his previous drug use and overcoming it. that's what i got out of it at least. he could be crossing into a new "sober" life and he just remembers the times when he used to "be obsessed" and held in the grasp of drugs. |

| I agree that it is about him. This is a great song. Cassie sounds great on the chorus. | |

also this... Track 8: CANDY JAIL – “I have tried thee, it is written, in the furnace of affliction” From Isaiah 48:8-10: 8 “Even from long ago your ear has not been open, Because I knew that you would deal very treacherously; And you have been called a rebel from birth. 9 “For the sake of My name I delay My wrath, And for My praise I restrain it for you, In order not to cut you off. 10 “Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. 11 “For My own sake, for My own sake, I will act; For how can My name be profaned? And My glory I will not give to another.” – “Country-Restroom on the radio” “Country and Restroom” is a Roger Miller-ism. – “I got a number on my name/ it’s hard to rise above the shame. / I’m a branded man made in the mold”, references Merle Haggard’s song “Branded Man” from 1967: “I'd like to hold my head up and be proud of who I am But they won't let my secret go untold I paid the debt I owed them, but they're still not satisfied Now I'm a branded man out un the cold When they let me out of prison, I held my head up high Determined I would rise above the shame But no matter where I'm living, the black mark follows me I'm branded with a number on my name” |

| The Silver Jews – Candy Jail Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I thought I heard this was about his friend that died recently. I forget his name but he was a film maker and made a few trippy music videos. | |
| Mike Doughty – I Just Want the Girl in the Blue Dress to Keep on Dancing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i'm a little disappointed in the way mike doughty is going with more of a pop band instead of acoustic like skittish or altenative like soul coughing. Also his other lyrics seemed to be a little then "Brrmbpdpdmdm" | |
| Built to Spill – Strange Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i've always though this song is about tripping or an out of body experience "and it's strange but not all that strange that it's strange but what's so strange about that?" almost everyone has said that while tripping or while have an out of body experience |

| The Silver Jews – How to Rent a Room Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i always took the metro section as meaning she saw an article written about him (about his poetry book) and realized he was brilliant, but since he's talking about dying that's probably true. I also always thought it said "chop lines around my body" meaning cocaine, but i guess chalk lines makes a lot of sense. | |
| Aesop Rock – Water Lyrics | 18 years ago |

this song is amazing. I never understood this line though... "God had a flask I can prove it You really think the 13 loops that loose daughter spawned me a sober unit" any ideas? |

| Atmosphere – Fuck You Lucy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this could be totatlly off but, this whole song sounds exactly like a situation in book Point Counter Point by Aldous Huxley. For those who haven't read it, there is a girl named Lucy who plays with Walter's mind, bascially exactly like this song. Slug could have wrote it about that or maybe just what you guys already stated. | |
| El-P – Tasmanian Pain Coaster Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is a great song. I believe the whole song is about what el-p hates about himself. I think in the first verse the "kid he bumped" into was himself and he realizes he goes through life "just maintaining" instead of living. The second verse sounds like him riding around critizing the way people live as he is trashed on a train ect. | |
