| The Fray – Trust Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| To me, this song is about remembering that we're all insignificant. We all rush about trying to uncover the meaning of the world and of life, but despite our efforts, that knowledge will only come to us with time. Then again, if we continue to try to control life instead of giving into it, we might never get that knowledge. We're only taking turns holding this world. It'll go on the same without us, so don't try to change it. That's what it means to me anyway. It sounds depressing, but whenever I listen to this song it just calms me down to remember that while I have problems, life will go on, and maybe sometime in the future I'll find meaning in the past. | |

Why's no one commented yet? I love this song. To me, it's about longing and acceptance that the person you love has moved away. I love the lines "Remember the angels you slept with Only the best sex would turn you on" |

I interpret this a bit differently, and I don't know if those are the right lyrics up there but I interpret them differently too. "I know that you're an artist, you're the hardest one to deal with, everything that you conceal, well it's revealed on your canvas, you find all of your ugly meanings, in the things I found beautiful, do you see the fall is coming, come on, falling into you..." He expresses himself solely through his art, which she finds beautiful. He finds his ugly meanings in it, meaning that while his art is beautiful, there are darker meanings behind it. Also, I think that conceive is really conceal, meaning that he hides his feelings from her but his art gives them away. "You painted me in pastels, colors that don't tell of any boldness, cause that's the way you love to see me, so delicate, so weak, so little purpose. But your eye's are drawn of charcoal, they're black, they're so cold, they're so imperfect, cause they see a sleeping world where waking isn't worth it..." Because he's an artist, he sees the world differently, and the world he imagines is better than the real one. This world comes out through his art, and he doesn't want to wake up from it. You perceive all of these things i never have known, love, will you turn out the lights, cause we're already home... "Can you live without your lines? I've had enough of you tonight." This could be lies or lines, either works, but I like lines more. He sees the world through his own eyes, as if it was drawn down with lines. If those lines are taken away, he can't manage, and she's a bit exasperated with him. "You perceive all of these things i never have known, love, will you turn out the lights, cause we're already home." In the end, even though he lives in his own world, he sees things that she wouldn't see without him, and she loves him. |
