I love this song, to me it seems to be from the point of view of someone who's in denial about the death of a loved one. I haven't read many of the comments on here so this may have been said a million times already but I think it's fairly obvious in these lines
"If I smile and don't believe Soon I know I'll wake from this dream Don't try to fix me I'm not broken"
I think it shows that the person who is in denial just needs time to recover, they're not broken and they don't need help they just need time to cope.
either way it's a beautiful song with a haunting melody and an instant favourite. |

I love this song it's just amazing in every way, brings a tear to my eye when he says "i don't want you to hurt" :'(
and to "shiner4life" if you look on youtube there are a few acoustic sessions they done before the album was released of the crow and the butterfly and if you only knew, :) there might be a couple of others I didn't really check |

i'm sure a few of these lyrics are wrong
it says "i am the devil and i'm coming for you" each time i'm sure it's also "i clean my blood with turpentine" and "a dead black dog" :S |

Ooh i agree with the phil collins thing, i think it's because of the drums lol. i also agree that this is the best song off the album :) even if it is really sad i Love love love the 4th verse and the line "she just smiles" gives me shivers. . . in a good way ofc. |

i think it might be about this girl who died waiting on her lover to return from being out at sea, he died out there and she still waits for him to come and take her away to heaven i suppose :S idk if thats right just a guess coz it says:
now i've been dead for twenty years.
i suppose that could be metaphorical meaning his absence has left her kind of dead inside for twenty years while she refused to believe that he wasnt coming back. |
