I think it is about the end of the times. In Revelation the angels blow the trumpets and pour the plagues out of the bowls. This is how the angels would "wake up the beautiful sleeping world." I think the "beautiful sleeping world" describes our society today in the sense that there are a great deal of people who are not Christians and even worse are lukewarm Christians. And the "darkness" is simply all of the evil in the world today and how quickly people are to ridicule and mock Christians for their beliefs. |

I think this song is about someone you know who is in a different environment from what they were accustomed to and isn't really fitting in, and they might be contemplating suicide, but you are trying to help them and give them hope. |
