Iced Earth – Dracula Lyrics 17 years ago
The first two lines as well as the theme of the story are from the film "Bram Stoker's Dracula" rather than the original novel itself.
In this, Dracula is made into a more human character who at one point was Vlad, a man in love who served and fought for God. However, his loved one (thinking Vlad dead) commits suicide and although he prays for her soul, he is told she will end up in Hell for taking her life. Feeling betrayed, he renounces God and swears revenge against him and the human race that serves him.

The following lines sum up Dracula's intentions throughout the film this is based on.
"For true love I shall avenge.
I defy the creed that damned her!"

Iced Earth – Wolf Lyrics 17 years ago
This details the Wolf Man, an innocent man (Talbot) is bitten by a werewolf and lives to become one and hunt his loved ones. In the end, he finds peace only through death.

The chorus is actually derived from the poem repeatedly spoken in the film:
"Even a man who is pure in heart
And says his prayers by night,
May become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms
And the autumn moon is bright."

Powerman 5000 – Top Of The World Lyrics 18 years ago
Words of Spider One:

It's such an old expression, and there have been so many songs called "Top Of The World," from The Carpenters to Cheap Trick. But it hit me one day what the hell is on the top of the world? And the final line of this song, which is probably one of the most cynical moments on the record, is, "What's on top of the world when you get there, and who's selling it to me?" Again, it's this manufactured moment that everyone strives to get to, and it may not be anything like what you think it is. This is a big, noisy rock song. I suspect it's going to be one of the highlights of the live show because it's such an aggressive song to play.

Powerman 5000 – Transform Lyrics 18 years ago
Words of Spider One:

This is the one that ended up best representing the record, which is why I chose "Transform" for the title. The chorus gives it away: "You won't last that long/ You might as well transform," which is basically saying that your window of opportunity opens and closes really fast. Whether you're talking about your life from birth to death, or a certain moment in your life, the fact is, it won't last long. So you've got to seize that moment to try and do something.

Powerman 5000 – A Is For Apathy Lyrics 18 years ago
Words of Spider One:

"A Is For Apathy" says, "I want to be the richest American" and "I want to live out on the street." But since the song is written from an apathetic point of view, it doesn't matter which of those options you get. My favorite line is, "So many reasons to just do nothing." That just sums it up. And we all suffer from that.

Powerman 5000 – Theme To A Fake Revolution Lyrics 18 years ago
Words of Spider One:

There's a reference in this song to "a battle won and lost with confusion." Your only defense against the culture imposing its definition on you is confusion. Be something you're not confuse the powers that want to co-opt who you are. If they can't understand who you are, then they can't steal your identity. The line, "Make no mistake, there is no solution," is about not taking a stand.

Powerman 5000 – That's Entertainment Lyrics 18 years ago
Words of Spider One:

This is a big, dumb song about the music industry. And because we tailored it to be a little dance-y, it's mocking the industry in its very style. Of course, manufactured pop stars are an easy target and, to be honest, I've never had an issue with that because I think there should always be music for nine-year-old girls. My problem came when all of a sudden that type of music became legitimate entertainment for the rest of us. It just drives me crazy when people start talking about *NSYNC and Britney Spears as "artists." That's why that line in the songs says, "You write the songs, I'll lip-sync 'em on tour." The line, "Let's see who's the biggest whore," was actually inspired by Christina Aguilera's "Dirty" video. When I saw it, it became clear that it's all about whoring yourself out on any level possible and here's a girl who can actually sing! But they're entertainers; they're bred from birth to entertain dance classes, voice classes, acting classes. If it weren't music, it would be toothpaste commercials or soap operas, so the music aspect can't be any more important than the rest of it. In my case, I bought a bass for $15 when I was 13 years old and learned how to put two notes together, but it became very important to me.

Powerman 5000 – Blast Off to Nowhere (feat. Rob Zombie) Lyrics 18 years ago
I'm going with the second opinion. During the TTSR phase, Powerman 5000 had a lot of metaphors to their lyrics and used sci-fi imagery.

"please just kill me now
or get me off this rock
cause i can't stand to see your faces
and i can't stand to hear you talk"

I can relate to that. He wants to get away from everyone and doesn't quite care how.

Powerman 5000 – Relax Lyrics 18 years ago
Relax was actually originally by Frankie Goes To Hollywood. It's full of sexual innuendo, but this cover is less sexual.

Powerman 5000 – Standing 8 Lyrics 18 years ago
Drug usage could have something to do with it... but in their remix, it makes it seem that this song would be about what's going on in a fight.
