Amanda Palmer – Trout Heart Replica Lyrics 16 years ago
I absolutely adore this song!
To me, it's about having a conflict between eating meat and just not being able to bear it. Even though she may eat some meat, she still hates the idea of killing animals or seeing them die. I think it has a lot to do with most people who say they love to eat meat but don't want to be told gruesome details of how that steak or fish got to their plate.

"feed them details..." this line is sort of saying that although you may tell people why you feel a certain way or the cruelty behind the killing they still won't listen . They just don't care and want to be ignorant. I feel like a lot of this song is about being quiet about how you feel (in relation to eating meat) because you know it wont make a difference or you dont want to seem weak.
I think "Killing isn't all that hard/ It's hurting that's the hardest part" could be interpreted as some people see killing something for food as normal or void of emotion but the idea of 'hurting' something changes it. And it's that idea of hurt that makes her wary of meat etc.
The lines that say "and when the wizard gets to me/ i'm asking for a smaller heart" is saying the person just wants to be like everyone else and not care. So the only way the can do that is just to get 'a smaller heart' and stop thinking.

I sort of relate to this because I can't bear to eat meat and when i explain my feelings to people, they just dont understand why i care so much. Sometimes I just wish I could not care like they do...

Anyway...that's just my lil disorganised rant which may or may not be right

Voltaire – If I Only Were a Goth Lyrics 18 years ago
Um, no...Alex Reed is the voice of ThouShaltNot, and last I checked, Voltaire and Alex Reed are not the same person. Both still kick ass though!

Emilie Autumn – I Didn't Mean You (Poem) Lyrics 18 years ago
This is one of the most beautiful poems I've read/ heard. I think it's about a girl who liked someone who also liked her but she kept on pushing him away out of habit or something of the like. Eventually he decides to leave her and finds someone else even though she does love him. She's a little bitter perhaps at herself for pushing him away and at him for 'not trying hard enough' to win her affections.
For some reason I think the poem is linked to Swallow.
Probably the sad result of the song.
either way, gorgeous (sp?)

Emilie Autumn – Swallow Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is about how a girl (perhaps Emilie) who has made a persona of herself ("I'm not a farie but.." "Filthy victorians, they made me what i am made of") all these years due to a growing low confidence and a desire to be remebered in order to lift her confidence("twenty years/ sinking slowly" "I don't want to be a legend/ o well thats a god damned lie, i do"). In a attempt to make herself feel better about all this selfish impulses of being different, she tries to find a way to make herself seem galliant, by trying to convince others she's doing this for music or art or just her fans that look up to her for a breath of fresh air.
Now, i think after all this torment she put herself through, she made a sheild that allowed her to wallow in her sorrow without many people knowing. Then she meets a guy who breaks that sheild. She's torn between the choice of trusting him or staying alone. finaly she decides to "swallow" her sea of pride or whatever it is that stops her from trusting others on such a level. She claims that if this whole trusting others doesnt work, then she'll get her revenge ("But I'll come back to haunt you if i drown")
The guy is trying to tell her that it'l be alright becuase he's felt the same, but the girl doesnt believe that he or maybe anybody could understand the way she feels ("You tell me everything's all right/As though it's something you've been through") I think the guy is so smitten with her that he feels its his duty to save her from self destruction and thinks he's a knight in shining armour. He feels he's doing something so romantic that there's no way she won't be won over. She is the first to tell him that its only romantic to him but it's a major and slightly tramatic life change for her. The guy probably doesnt see it as important as it is to her, which frustrates her. (You think this torment is romantic/Well it's not except to you).
In the end though, it seems she finally made a decision and wants him to go away. She doenst want him to help her. (If I photoshop you/Out of every picture I could/Go quietly quiet) Whether or not he actualy goes away though..I'm not sure about that.

over all (despite my looong ass explination) i really enjoy this song. I can relate to it slightly acutally. I felt like this a year or two ago. EA is amazing!
Sorry for my long comment. :P i like to annotate things...

Emilie Autumn – Crazy He Calls Me (Billie Holiday cover) Lyrics 18 years ago
WOOT! the first to comment on this wonderful song! Can't believe no one else has.
So it's pretty much about a woman who is so in love with someone that she's willing to do whatever to please him. Not sure whether the man has the same feelings for her. If he does then he is calling her crazy in a loving way but if not...then he probably thinks she really is crazy or just plain creepy. in the second verse it seems that he wants her to go through fire.
but to me it sounds originally like a jazz song but i adore the way EA makes it sound so creepy and haunting. It's like...billie holiday at an asylum XD

Nelly Furtado – Picture Perfect Lyrics 18 years ago
i just thought of this, but i think the song is supposed to be through the eyes of a young person (most likely guy) in a forgiegn country who wants to go the the US or something like that. It has this whole american dream type feel. The guy starts off seeing this amazing country where everybody has a better life (like in a 'magazine or travaling book') and wants to go thinking he is meant for so much more than what his country could offer. He gets a 'job lifting cement', a low paying and hard job that most immagrants have to take. a lil bit confused with some references, like 'the village was great but now its a suberb'...maybe signifying disapointment from what should be good (development)
yeah...so the song i think is pretty much about the american dream not being EVERYTHING its cracked up to be but it still seems like the guy is happy...i gues its just about someone trying to find their 'picture perfect' dream.
throughout the Folklore albumn i think there's this whole feel of being an immigrant and sticking to your roots and all that, kinda like what SEBAS88 said. for eg, in saturdays she sings 'I hit my head and dream of the city' so dreams for a better place is a huge theme i think...
sorry for the ramble or if you completely disagree!
