| Matt Pond PA – Last Song Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I feel like "Elizabeth" could perhaps be an allusion to the Elizabethan era and Victorian Eras and how we're not much different from back then, even despite all of the mistakes we've obviously made, etc. I think this song is about breaking preconceptions and removing ones self from this rigid society, and making a life for yourself in which you can actually breathe, and fuck the grass up, roll in it even, with fucked up hair, and make eye contact instead of averting your eyes. It's about becoming free by liberating yourself from the bullshit constructs of habitual, repetitive cultures. | |

| The Knife – Bird Lyrics | 18 years ago |

It's about society's idea of what it means to be a woman in a relationship. She wanted to be free, like a bird - instead, he wanted her to be a girl.. the housewive, demure, etc. with no urges to do great things... so she proclaims she has to fly - away. I don't think it's about sex really, though I like your idea of mindless sex slave - it correlates to what some men think women should be. |

| The Knife – Still Light Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Since she's asking if it's still light outside, she obviously can't tell, which means, it's dark inside). It sounds like depression to me, or maybe even cancer. I feel that The Knife is often good at painting an IMAGE - so it's not that each sentence means a specific important thing, but that the song as a whole gives off a mood or feeling. I'm going to reject the abortion hypothesis since you guys didn't give any evidence to back up your reasoning; besides, abortion isn't inherently sad. |

It sounds like they've been through metaphorical "battles" - long ass personal journeys. They're tired and beat up, but they've got a lot of water and they still win; they know they're superior to the opponent (we turn the other cheek)? They'll always win, and they KNOW it. Confidence in a cause? in being themselves? In the face of adversity? This song lacks insecurity/unsure-ness. Actually, it is full of being sure about things... (In my hand I hold a key, It's dear to me cause I know where it leads) My personal interpretation is that by having strength and confidence during the hard battles, you may not even have to fight them you're so secure. Or you fight them, you're out of wind and have pock marked chin, but you still have all this water.. and turn the other cheek (and win). Having confidence in yourself! And your causes! That's all I've got; Maybe I'll have another epiphany in the shower about it. Hopefully I didn't come off as insane, either ;) |

| Modest Mouse – Baby Blue Sedan Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I feel like the song is describing loneliness; the dance stuff is setting a metaphorical scene, it has nothing to do with an actual DANCE. I'm lonesome when you're around - When someone has an emotional wall up it's really even more alienating than being alone. |
