| I see it as he's killed someone in a car crash. If you listen to the song with that subject in mind it makes a lot of sense. | |
| Death Cab for Cutie – Photobooth Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| They met when they were little kids, and had been together since then. when they were teens she convinced him to have sex, they thought that meant they were in love, so they got married and now they are doing the paperwork for divorce.....such an amazing band every song tells a story. | |
| The Dresden Dolls – Night Reconnaissance Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Nothing is crueler than children who come from good homes God will forgive them, I guess, but whose side are you on? Driving around the old town, I remember it all Dropping my lunchbox and Tampax all over the hall And they said... "You are a socialist* cokehead, we know from your clothes. "You are a Satanist worshipper, oh, that's evil! "You think you're poet, a folksinger? Poser, nuh-oh! A volleyball player? You've got to be kidding us all!" So we hide from the guns On a night reconnaissance Steal flamingos and gnomes From the dark side of the lawn No one can stop us The script is a work of genius No one has bought the rights yet but We're not giving up Every unwanted lawn jockey fits in the script Directed by Spielberg and starring the masochist club Mary, you look like hell You're stuck in that ridiculous shell Give us some light and God's pure love We know what you've been dreaming of Give us some light and God's pure love We know what you've been dreaming of Give us some light and God's pure love We're taking you to Hollywood [spoken] Ah! Hollywood [end spoken] And we hide from the guns On a night reconnaissance Steal flamingos and gnomes From the dark side of the lawn One plays a socialist* cokehead we dress in my clothes One plays a Satanist worshiper of things evil One plays a poet who starts up a band of his own One is a volleyball player with both of wrists...broke! And we hide from the guns On a night reconnaissance Steal flamingos and gnomes From the dark side of the lawn And we give them good homes Give them love they've never known In the loft, in the barn, In the town where I was born In the loft, in the barn, In the town where I was born In the loft, in the barn, In the town where I was born *(Note: in some live versions, Amanda says "lesbian" instead of "socialist".) |

| Lifehouse – Whatever It Takes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this song took on new meaning for me when my boyfriend cheated on me. He was driving me home as we listened the lyrics amazed us. It seriously sounded like the conversation we had had right after he confessed to me. *shrugs* it might not be what it means at all but that's just what it means to me. | |
| t.A.T.u. – Stars Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Russian Rap translation ( sounds like she O.D.s ...pretty depressing but love the song 1st half I'm a star, you're a star Someone was told to extinguish us Someone ratted us and obtained The addresses of our meetings Ceiling above the eyes And no one will find. Voices will crack, And the ice will break. And I'm lost with out the key And my bed is my grave And it's time to switch off And they've almost caught us. Smile, Release, Cover the mirrors, Rip apart and say, "Dead, dead" * Close yourself off and lie there alone Become no one And my hand isn't shaking. Everything's ok with my hand. It's time to avenge. As easy as two times two. I got in the taxi, so suck it And don't ever ask I could never forgive you. Very Well, that's it. I've found my revenge All the 'powder' I could find ** Multiplied by six Don't call, don't call I'm tired, I'm tired I don't want you I am so fucking tired of you 2nd half Never ever, Start anything. Never anyone, Just dying and keeping quiet. No searching. No loving, No denying and no sleeping. Never ever Let anyone in Not together. And we will kill. And we'll dream about water. That's not yours or mine. Wires. Wires. Heroin. No Pulse, But it's not your fault. The phone has been switched off... |

Ok wow...some ppl just don't get it. Why would it matter that someone interprets the song differently. I'm sure Miss Palmer was not so dumb to think this song could take on different meanings then biting your nails. Which IS self mutilation anyway especially to that extent! Cutting is not the only form. So in a sense it is about self mutilation. IF someone wants to hear it cuz they cut or did cut and it makes them feel better what the heck is the problem. She was merely inspired to write it because of nail biting. & people read old posts 4 pages is not a lot at least skim...we don't need to know 10billion times what she said it was about we can all keep that in the back of our minds while we say what it means to us. Cuz nail biting doesn't even fit 100% so she stuck little things in to poke at our imaginations why get pissed when someone has a different opinion....lets develop some tolerance here people!! And if you read what she wrote it was mostly sarcasm at the complainer anyhow. ok that's enough... |

to me it's about a foster child "Blake says no one ever really loved him They just faked it to get money from the government" who doesn't find anyone to love him and that maybe his biological family was in alaska....idk |

I agree with gxrdxn's 1st statement, I thought it was all pretty obvious....but just a note I think "Hey little sister shotgun" has a double meaning, 1st the shotgun marriage, second the fact that siblings tend to say shot gun to get the front seat, it's like that is taking them back to when they were children. The stuff might sound creepy but I think that he was pretty much asking if she looked up to him or cared about him (in a brother sister way) just my thoughts |

well I was really wondering about this song so I researched and this is what lacey had to say about it in an interview ~Lacey is reluctant to go into details but says simply, "It's about abuse and it's a little personal. But the thing about it is I like the way it kind of leaves it open to interpreting it. It's just about a bad experience that maybe you hung onto for a while and then you ended up seeing the good that came out of it and being healed after it all." She will admit it comes from personal experience but won't share details even when I gently press her. "I've never talked about it. Nobody's ever asked me about it. I don't really want to talk about it for different reasons. The words in it have to do with dealing with problems at home. It's really straightforward." When the minidisc player is shut off she goes into more detail and I can understand why she doesn't want to go public. But for you dear reader, I'll have to draw a veil over the song here.~ I think the last part means that she met someone that went through a similar situation...not necesarily that she was saying she forgave the person who did it...but that's just a thought |
