I agree that the song has a hope to it. This is almost a fighter's song in the sense that the singer is also supporting the person's whose life is on the line. It's a song about the fight for life, and the line "I feel your pulse, I hold your hand" best exemplifies the hope in it. |

I saw an interview with Phil Collins where he said he wasn't trying to offend religious people but that he was simply taking on the phonies like Benny Hinn and Jim Bakker. |

This song makes me think of what I'm up against with my girlfriend. We're 100 miles and 2 years apart and a control freak mother neither of us trust against us. But we love each other, and despite what a lot of people I've talked to saying otherwise, we know it's enough. |

This is the song I listen to to remind myself to never take my girlfriend for granted. To never pass my island by. |

Um, this isn't really a cover of Bob Dylan's song. I mean, some of the lyrics are similar, but it's not a cover. |

One of the interpretations I have is that it's about guilt. In fact, Peter wrote it for an abandoned movie project where people were punished for their sins with red rain, so I guess the two can sort of go hand in hand. |

I don't know. I just don't know. I mean, this song is meant as a declaration of just his beliefs, but it also seems kind of arrogant to me. I'm not going to get on the religious aspects (or lack thereof) of this song, but he just seems to be giving a big "F you" to everyone. That's just my opinion, so please, nobody blast me about this comment. |

Congradulations to those who think she's a transvestite/ person with marfan's syndrome. You're both wrong. You get a cookie. I tried to think of this song with a different vocal style, and it didn't work. So let's set things straight. She is not a transvestite. In fact, she is a very beautiful woman who simply looks distinct and doesn't look like ever cookie-cutter barbie doll girl you see around ever corner. And she has an incredible vocal range. So in your eye. |

I discovered this song when I saw him perform it on "Secret World Live". I love how he just commanded the stage with his very presence. His performance really gave me the sense of what the song's about. He's essentially saying to a woman "Oh yes, you know everything in the world now, don't you? Well, I don't know much, but I know one thing. You." |

Well, what I've heard him say in concert is that it's about how two people can be so deep in love, that parts of them break off. It's about the way that they love each other when no one else is around. It's a love that's not supposed to be seen by others(and no, not in a sexual way, although I suppose it could be). In other words, it's about the secret world of love they've created for each other. |

I don't know about the whole alien angle, and I'm not even entirely sold on the sex angle. But, I will say that the song definately has a sort of runaway vibe to it. It's almost of the feeling of two people who are running away from something. Perhaps forces that would keep them apart? It definately seems like they're intimately together, and they're not supposed to be. That's what I get out of the song, so I'll just stick with that. |

I was moved to tears the very first time I heard this. I didn't know my birth father very well. He died when I was six, but what I do remember was fond. I had a step-dad by the time I was 8, and I tried to distance myself from him, but I remember calling him Dad immediately. This song made me feel so terrible for how I've treated my stepfather. Because he's been everything a father should be. I love my Dad. |

This song seems to be more about an independent person who tends to fall in love on their own terms. Until they meet that one person that they start to have feelings for without planning on it (hence, "I feel a weakness coming on"). They are completely taken back by this, and start to try and fight back their feelings, but they can't. They feel a minor bit of resentment towards this person they find themselves involuntarilly loving (it's all your fault). And they find they have no choice but to just go with it. |

I think that this song can pertain to more than just a sexual meaning. I interpret it as more of a, "come on, give that guy a chance" song. But that's just me. Like all great songs, it's open to interpretation. |

It seems to me that this song is from the view of someone's best friend or love comforting them when they wish the world would go away. I went through something a lot like this, where I was depressed, and I wanted people to leave me alone because I didn't want anyone to see me like that. Then, one of my dearest friends let me cry on their shoulder for a bit, and basically said what this song is talking about. She was there for me, no matter what, and, at the same time, helped me have my space. At least, that's what I get out of the song. |
