I always used to sing along to the chorus of this song when i was little, one of the only songs i knew then. And still now i absoulutely love it... its such an inspiring song, in sound and words. really beautiful! This song will always be really special to me. Love it! |

| Maroon 5 – As Things Collide Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
this is a fantastic song, the tune is so catchy and some of the lines are fantastic, especially 'you have this way of meaning everything and nothing to me at the same time' And this one, always gets me singing along... its such a well written, and 'chirpy' line. 'telegram came today from a friend saying where in the hell have you been, where are you going...' Im curious though - i don't understand the angels reference, is he considering himself as an angel 'spoken to all the OTHER angels'? If anyone has any idea what this bit means id love to know. But either way, its a great song! |

| Anna Nalick – Breathe (2 A.M.) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song is just brilliant. It is uplifting, while still being so deep, but also with the element of sadness. One of the songs I'll never get tired of listening to. 2 Am and she calls me cause I'm still awake Can you help me unravel my latest mistake I don't love him, winter just wasn't my season. These are some of my favourite lines, just the structure of them, and the beautiful way Anna delivers it. The 'winter just wasn't my season' just really strikes home. Cause you can't jump the track We're like cars on a cable and life's like an hourglass glued to the table, No one can find the rewind button girl So just cradle your head in your hands. And breathe, just breathe, whoa breathe just breathe And the whole chorus is absolutely flawless. I'm a songwriter myself and if I could write something so concise yet powerful, and structure it that well, it would be the most incredible feeling. Such imagery, with the cars on the cable, and the hourglass on the table... and such relevance to the lives of, basically, everyone, in their own way. What a song. Pretty much my favourite song ever. |

| Keane – Leaving So Soon? Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I love the lines -You look down on me, -Don't you look down on me now They really sound to me as though a person is making a stand for themself, and those lyrics really lift me. The song itself is fantastic as well. |

| Keane – Hamburg Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I am pretty sure this is my all time favourite song. The atmosphere of it is unlike anything I've heard, just captures me every time. It just takes me away and makes me think of all the really close friends i have (and have had) and how I always want to be there in their life, and have them in mine. And just be a quiet constant in their life, always be there for them. But its also asking to be recognised by that friend, I think... Just shine, shine, shine Shine a little light Shine a light on my life Warm me up again So its talking about giving the spotlight to your friend, but asking them to continue shining on you as well, not to forget you or leave you behind. Those four lines give me shivers every time. Keane are an absolutely incredible group, amazingly inspiring. I live in Australia, I really hope they tour out here sometime soon... |

| Keane – A Bad Dream Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| To be honest I listened to this song well over 100 times before really thinking about what the lyrics meant... by which time I knew them all off by heart, and completely loved the song... but this just adds another dimension to it. Its so relaxing, but still passionate. Very nearly my favourite song by keane... I think Hamburg Song just comes up in front | |
| Darius Danesh – Colour Blind Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think there is a mistake in the lyrics... i think it is this. Feeling yellow I'm confused inside A little hazy but mellow When I feel your eyes on me So the correction is 'but mellow' instead of 'that my love'. I also think, in the second verse, its 'all the colours have faded' instead of 'all the colours are fading'. Thats what it sounds like to me anyway. Anyway, its a great song, i really like it. Cleverly written, with a really nice feelgood chorus... a little cliched but still great. |

| The Cat Empire – Miserere Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I love this song... the lyrics are so awesome, and it really is an uplifting song, especially at the end. I think the song kind of takes you on a journey, early on it shows the trouble that some people can have in their life, the situations of those 'less fortunate'... and then, moving to appreciate the beauty of everything... Have you ever seen a sound? Have you listened to an image? Have you ever touched a thought? Have you ever tasted nothing? Have you ever told a lie that was true more than truth? Because truth it had lied all its life When it spoke to you I love this verse, it really invites you to explore everything around you with all of your senses and not to take anything for granted. Anyway, the song then becomes wonderfully uplifting in its style as well as its lyrics... this verse is my absolute favourite... musical genius, i say Have you ever been so happy that you’re sad, That the lights turn to stars, And the stars become eyes, And hellos are goodbyes, And the laughs are the sighs, And the show disappears with a note Until next time Long live living, if living can be this And what a last line! Sums up the goal of the song in one perfect line... I just try to think this line as often as possible and it really makes you appreciate life. Thankyou Cat Empire for this awesome song... i love all of their music but this is just so brilliantly done. |

| Lifehouse – Breathing Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I dont think I can say anything that hasnt been said already, but I couldn't not comment on this song. Whenever I listen to it, I just imagine lying with someone, holding them as close as possible, both knowing that words arent necessary... and slowly, falling asleep, listening only to the sounds of each other breathing. I've had that before, but this song really makes me miss that closeness to somebody... its a beautiful song. |

| Jeff Buckley – Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song has so many different and varied interpretations, Leonard Cohen is a fantastic songwriter, but Jeff Buckley, in my opinion, definitely performed it better. If only they had been able to team up and become a singer/songwriter team, we would have more beautiful songs like this to take us away... | |
| Ben Folds – Late Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I love how Ben Folds has written a song like this. He has written some fantastic humorous songs, and some beautiful and meaningful ones too, but this one seems to hold at least as much meaning to me as any of them. Even though I haven't lost a friend or someone close to me while I've been old enough to know about it, this song allows me to relate to how he's feeling about it. I love the third verse Elliott, man, you played a fine guitar And some dirty basketball The songs you wrote got me through a lot Just thought I'd tell you that... In just four lines, he has so beautifully described the friendship, and it really gets across the feeling of enjoying and respecting the impact someone has made on your life. Thats how it feels to me, anyway. |

| Ben Folds Five – Magic Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This is my all time favourite song ever. As soon as I heard it, Ben Folds Five became my favourite group, and Ben Folds is so clever with his songs (even though Darren wrote this one). I learnt to play it on the piano as soon as I could get the music... whenever I listen to this song, I dance around the room, its like the sound of Ben Folds' piano is just lifting me. I don't know if I'll ever be able to play it with the amazing sound he gets, but I can dream, right? I think with this song, its the piano that is what makes me smile every time I hear it, rather than the lyrics. The lyrics are great, and really powerful, but it was only after about 10 or 15 times of dancing around to it that I actually listened to the lyrics carefully. I am such a sucker for good piano music. And when a song is constructed and put together so beautifully, good lyrics are only an added bonus. So this song just takes the cake for me. |

| Lighthouse Family – High Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I love this song. It was playing on a roadtrip I was on once with a busful of friends, and that week of my life was just amazing, and every time I hear this song it just lifts my spirits. This song also gives me great memories of a 2 year relationship I was in, the lyrics are so fitting to that. "At the end of the day, remember the way, we stayed so close til the end We'll remember, it was me and you..." Amos, go home. Support songs you like, but dont trash songs that mean the world to other people. I think I stand for everyone else who has posted on this song when I say that. |
