It is truly about a girl, his friend Peter does exist. It isn't so much for Peter as it is he is making a song despite someone he was in love with. Peter is used in the song to say that I want to be around him and not you and I don't need you anymore. Even though he knows that he does need her. When my X fiancee' left me I got a tattoo of a beer in a glass with the words "and it will take 23 more to wipe the stupid smile off my fucking face" right next to a tattoo that matches one she has. Just as a I still love you but goodbye. |

Some people seem to have caught on. It isn't about Chicago, or love for Chicago. ALK3 wrote a lot of stuff in frisco and Matt is writing about not wanting to go home. He isn't leaving anyone specific. I'm from Mobile, AL but spent a good part of my life in SF and never wanted to leave. I have left SF with a window seat many times now listening to this song and hating every second of the flight with my only comfort being the song. |

I havn't read all the post but the top few are somewhat correct. I can't believe someone else caught the Hot Water Music and Bouncing Souls refferences. It is about war and I believe it is about Vietnam. The part about wondering how far from heaven we fall is about being a paratrooper. The songs from newer bands is about just needing something to get your mind off of the battle your about to face. |

Ok. No offense but some of these theory's are way out there. Grasping for straws. The song is partially about HEROIN use. But the reason the teenager died is he tried to rob a store to get money for his addiction. He was telling his girlfriend to wait in the car. |
