the problem with david bowie songs is there might not be any meaning behind them.
I've heard he's known to write stories he wants to tell, chop them up word by word, and rearrange them so they sound good. |

I really don't think this is a board to talk about Kurt's suicide, i don't think courtner was helping him but i don't think she helped kill him either. I remeber wanting a reason for kurts suicide at the time, but i'm not sure there is one
Anyway! the lyrics to me it's about self-doubt and love, leaving to protect someone because you know what your are, you don't trust yourself to treat them right. |

i though this song had a much deeper significance, young gay teenagers in the 70s being kicked out of thier houses by thier parents. YMCAs had to provided shelter for them no? |

In reality i think this song has something to do with a kid that died, at least the video gives a lot of attention to a kid.
To me it always seemed to be about forces of movement, feeling complete disconnected from it all, you don't know where your going, why your anywhere at any point, and that dosne't really bother you either. |

This might be a mixture of my personel experince coupled with want i want this song to be.. but i shall extrapalte none the less. The first part (1 and 2) about a guy is school abused my teachers for seemingly no reason. years later. he still hasn't gotten over it. and he's so beyond getting over his past he's learned not to care at all, about anything. "i don't need anything at all" and the next song, which connects with this "good bye cruel world" is him eventualyl realising his posiion in life. and giving up. |
