Chevelle – Well Enough Alone Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is OBVIOUSLY about a friend with a substance abuse problem. It is quite easy to pick up if you ask me. The intro screams SICK, which is what a person is with an addiction. The first verse talks about how everyone around the person is oblivious to the bond that exists between the addict and the substance. Yet the evil of the substance shows another side. Each verse has certain lines that are a dead give away to addiction. The part in the hook where he says "never coming, always leaving" I interpret as the person always gettin high or drunk and is never sober...hence never coming to reality, always leaving it. "Why we leave well enough alone" is basically stating that the person needs help yet they just strike him off as being well enough on his own until disaster strikes.

Thats just what I think, I could break down the entire song but i just dont feel like typing that all right now...those are the major hints to me. Besides the fact that he says "Hooked on substance" in the song. If that isn't clear enough, I dont know what is.

Atreyu – Becoming the Bull Lyrics 18 years ago
Ok, first off, I get so tired of listening to all of the sell out talk that goes on now-a-days. First it was Taking Back Sunday, then it was The Used. I am a huge Atreyu fan, watched em live twice, have all of their cds. Just because they have matured as a band and are trying some new music doesn't mean they have "sold out." SERIOUSLY PEOPLE, this is what these bands do for a living. Yeah they love what they do, and most people would kill to have the talent they have. But why stay underground doing the same thing your whole life. They are in it to grow as a band, mature, and try to make some money while doing this. You cannot do that by making the same music and playing for the same limited amount of fans. Atreyu is a GREAT band, it was only a matter of time before they were noticed and burst from the underground. To all of the hardcore atreyu fans, all you can say now when all "these preppy girls" say how much they love atreyu is that atleast you've been there since the beginning. And as for the screaming parts, I have always said Alex has the best screaming voice i have heard, besides maybe M. Shadows from A7X until he ruined his vocal chords. But honestly, alex can sing too, and so can Brandon. I always thought the clean vocals in alot of their old stuff was really good. So its not like its really that bad of a thing. Atreyu has conformed to all of their fans now. When you need the old atreyu, listen to their old stuff. Seriously, can they really top Lip Gloss and Black, The Crimson, and so on?

Saosin – You're Not Alone Lyrics 18 years ago
Haha I get tired of people commenting about how bands arent the same because of certain bandmembers or leadsingers are no longer apart of the band. Yeah its sad that bands break apart, but its life. Chalk it up as a learning experience. If you ask me I think alot of the bands are just as good. This saosin cd is one of my all time favorites. I watched them live at TOC in milwaukee in april and it was amazing. They sang this song and it is my favorite song off the album because i feel as simple as the message is, its a life saver for the lot of us. No matter what your going through, someone else is going through the same thing or has gone through it. Everything tends to work out. And whether saosin has the same leadsinger or not, it just doesnt matter because this cd is great and this song is awesome and when it comes down to it the music is what matters, not who sings it.

Thousand Foot Krutch – Hurt Lyrics 18 years ago
I have been a TFK fan for a few years now, and i just recently stumbled upon this song a few months back. The vocals in it really turned my head. If you ask me, the song is obviously about a close friend losing the battle with depression. The lines about the gun inside and dropping the ball i interpret as a ticking time bomb inside the persons mind and soul that finally just goes off. Everyone handles things differently and I believe that every person has something inside them that will finally trigger that type of sadness and fear. And the leadsinger is trying his best to be there for his friend, but a person who is deeply depressed is really hard to help. This song is about the hurt both people in a friendship go through when one of them is depressed. If you listen to the angst in his voice and read the lyrics closely i think this message will become more apparent to you.

A Thorn for Every Heart – Things Aren't So Beautiful Now (Part II) Lyrics 18 years ago
First and foremost, I have been patiently waiting for ATFEH's new cd to be released ever since i heard a bootleg version of their song "worthless." I have been listening to this first record ever since it came out, and i am still no where near being tired of it. Their lyrical style, guitar riffs, and dual vocals just speak to me in ways many other bands can't.

That being said, i agree with alot of the previous comments about this song. It is obviously a song about a man who has passed on and left his sig. other behind. They were in deep love, but he feels that even though he is leaving her behind, it is the best for her. Reason being that he feels he has damaged her in ways that would have never happened if he weren't around. It is a depressing song but in many ways so true. He is only human and everyone hurts the ones they love in ways they never mean to. Death isn't necessarily the best way to remedy this, but the whole message behind the song is that he realized way too late that he hurt her way more than he would have liked. It should be a wake up call to us all to realize that not every tomorrow is guarenteed in our lives and we need to hold our loved ones near and try our best not to hurt them. Thats what i feel the song is saying....just a beautifully written song with a great message. I love the last verse, they way it is sung brings chills to my spine every time i listen.

Emery – Returning The Smile You Have Had From The Start Lyrics 18 years ago
Ok the more I listen to this song, the more it becomes apparent to me that this song is about his closest friend or significant other is passing away from a disease such as alzheimers. He is in the hospital room by her side trying to remind her of who he is and what he means to hear. She is on her deathbed and he knows she won't make it through the day. At first I thought it was about a breakup, but alot of the lines in the song do not really go along with that.

I think the verse:

"As simple as I can
I'll tell you the difference
Between a pencil and a pen
And where it will leave us now
As your body lets you die,
And I sit here still alive

In my memory I wrote you down in ink
I never wanted to erase your story
Even with the tragedy it brings"

totally gives the alzheimers thing away. He is trying to explain to her how his memory has a permanent ink written account of his life with her and she has a pencil memory that erases their memories every day, whether she wants it to or not. And it is a tragedy that two people are in love are torn apart by a disease that neither of them have no control over. That to me is what the song is about.
