Alright, in all honesty, I love this song and I love this band. To me, it's about two people and the girl thought very highly of the boy, but he threw that all away, hence "How could you hate me? When all i ever wanted to be was you", but then it goes and says "How could you love me? When all you ever gave me were open wounds." Meaning the boy went back and said he loved her and the girl was questioning him pretty much. I know my explanation isn't very clear, but I hope that you know what I meant. To be honest, in my mind, it's between two men (not father and son). Like, two friends or even more. I don't know why I came to that conclusion, but whatever. Also, I have to agree with Rabster a little bit. I don't believe in God or Jesus, so whatever. Quite frankly, I don't care if this band is Christian, Jewish, Athiest or whatever. As long as they have good and meaningful songs, I'll stick by them. |

| This song seriously hits home for me. It's just sung and written so well, but just change "dad" to "mom". No body wants to let their parents down, but sometimes they have such high expectations of you that you do just that. It's pretty disappointing actually. But this song makes me cry everytime I hear it because, like I said, it's close to me. I think everybody at some point in their life can relate to this song. | |

This song, to me, is the best song by an artist, EVER. There's such power in his voice when he sings this that you can't help but feel a connection to the song. It makes me cry everytime I listen to it, because in a weird way I can relate to it. I take the song in the suicidal kind of way, not rape. To me, it's like someone realizes that life just plain sucks, so they go on and try to "end their life" because they find out that they really have no purpose and whatnot. Then there's someone close to them, pretty much begging them not to give in and to keep fighting, telling them that everything's going to be alright in the end and that it's never too late to change their view on the world. That's what I got out of it pretty much, y'know? |
