| Bob Dylan – Dirge Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I saw on youtube some comments that this is about drug addiction etc.? Of course, it doesn't necessarily have to be about one single thing, but I think this interpretation is the most coherent. There are many obvious examples (suicide road, hollow place within, weakness that it showed) but I think this is the most subtle and most interesting: 'I can't recall a useful thing you ever did for me 'Cept pat me on the back one time when I was on my knees' |

| Devendra Banhart – I Feel Just Like a Child Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| does this remind anyone else of bob dylan's rainy day women #12 & 35? y'know, the one that goes 'everybody must get stoned' | |
| Leonard Cohen – The Partisan Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the french verses are in fact this: les allemandes étaient chez moi, ils me dirent "resigne-toi", mais je n'ai pas pu, j'ai repris mon arme. j'ai changé cent fois de nom, j'ai perdu femme et enfants, mais j'ai tant d'amis, j'ai la France entière. un vieil homme dans un grenier, pour la nuit nous a caché, les Allemands l'ont pris, il est mort sans supplice. which translate more literally, for any who care, as: the germans came to my home, they ordered me to surrender, but i could not, i retook my weapon i've changed my name a hundred times i've lost wife and children but i have many friends i have all of france an old man in an attic kept us hidden for a night the germans took him he died without suffering |

| Neil Young – Like A Hurricane Lyrics | 17 years ago |

| Conor Oberst – I Don't Want to Die (In the Hospital) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| mm, i don't want to say this..but it is slightly/quite an irritating song. | |
| Conor Oberst – Milk Thistle Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| sorry to be utterly pointless, but this is just simply a beautiful song, i don't really know what else to say | |
| Adam Green – I Wanna Die Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the perfection of these words is just absurd- it should make no sense, yet (although admittedly i can't pinpoint any specific meaning) it seems to flow perfectly in my mind. i hope that my meaning isn't lost in my words.. but yes, it's just a very sad song |
| Emmy the Great – Gabriel Lyrics | 17 years ago |

| Martha Wainwright – Bloody Motherfucking Asshole Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this encapsulates teenage girl angst, it's just perfect | |
| Noah and the Whale – Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think this song is about addressing the pointlessness of life, in a hopeful way there's a missing verse: Oh consider the world just for a moment Oh and it’s gone before we even know Oh but I’ll follow it round I’ll follow it round Yeah I’ll follow it round I’ll follow it round ‘Til peaceful the world lays me down i think this final verse concludes the whole sentiment: yeah, individual life is without real significance, but i'll go along with it |
| Emmy the Great – Gabriel Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think this song is about rejection of a religion. i don't really have any justification for it, but it's all i ever think when i listen to it. the idea of growing up and discovering that, in fact, what you've been taught all your childhood isn't what you really believe, nor want to believe. anyway, regardless of it's meaning, i love this song! |
