I think this song is also, more generally speaking, about reawakening of consciousness after any blind following of faith - not necessarily religious faith. I believe also that the referral to the Da Vinci Code it is really in the meaning: an event, a thought, a discovery that makes all our previous beliefs crumble like a sand castle, so that we can see how biased were our opinions and how the truth lies in between, as the song says. It is the main point of the whole album; as in the leading song, in The Truth Beneath The Rose I read another "Open up your eyes". Probably my favorite song ever. It is inspired and intense, and sung in a exceptional way. This song has the best lyrics I have ever read. |
