Weezer – Congratulations Lyrics 18 years ago
This is NOT Weezer, it's The Special Goodness, Pat Wilson's solo project.

Weezer – A Song About You Lyrics 18 years ago
This isn't a Weezer song; it's one of those mislabeled mp3s that floats around filesharing services. I forget who the real band is, but this song should be removed from the Weezer section.

Toadies – Tyler Lyrics 18 years ago
I wish I could find the interview where Vaden Lewis explains these lyrics... but alas.

From what I recall, Vaden had gone back to his hometown of Tyler, Texas and the big thing his family was talking about was that some weirdo had been seen around town peeping into windows. So he wrote the song from that weirdo's perspective, with the addition of a "what would happen if he actually went inside?" kind of scenario tagged on.

I'm sure you can find the article around the internet somewhere, i lack the energy to look for it at the moment.

I hope this clears up all the pointless debate about whether or not it's about a stalking/rape. It most definitely IS, but not a specific real-life instance of it, as some have attested.

Smoking Popes – Rubella Lyrics 18 years ago
For anyone who may not know, 'rubella' is a type of infectious disease, which also happens to sound a bit like a girl's name. most of us know that feeling of being 'infected' by someone... which is what makes this song great.

Smoking Popes – Megan Lyrics 18 years ago
it's a little oblique, and the upbeat music disguises it, but I believe the suicide thing is fairly obvious when you really look at it. The plot goes like so:

-narrator, distraught about megan, parks his car on the train tracks, gets hit.

-narrator almost dies, hence the "got a ride to another town" stanza. Doesn't climb the stairs.

-narrator tries to get run over by a train again, this time sans car. someone stops him.

So there are two attempted suicides in the song... You probably wouldn't notice upon first listen. It's really clever writing, which is what I always liked about the Popes.
