I hear "It wasn't your fault..." at the beginning of the chorus instead of "Hold your thoughts..." It seems to make sense in the context of the song given that he says "I apologize, I'm sorry, it's not your fault" during the bridge. |

i've come to think that the last two verses are about a girl who killed herself / was killed by addiction. she is a "victim" of youth or change...he does say that he was nineteen at the time. this would explain the letters that he'd found that had hurt him (maybe she was thinking things that she never said to anyone). it just seems unlikely that this song is about a serial killer... |
