Amazing song... and I think half of the greatness of this song and these lyrics is that they're so difficult to figure out. Seriously, I've been trying to figure it out since I first heard it and it remains a total enigma. I think you may be on the right track hopelessly_hopeful... but that explanation doesn't seem quite complete. Goodness, these lyrics make my head hurt. :-) |

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will lie also." -Matthew 6:21
To me, this song seems to refer to that verse. His treasure is "heaven." Therefore, that's where his heart lies as opposed to so many others who try to find their treasure elsewhere and "dig, dig, dig. until they can't get out." Their heart ends up in the bottom of an inescapable hole. |
