Ryan Adams – Two Lyrics 16 years ago
I was once in love with someone, and I'd always ask him, "If I'm good and if I'm quiet and I let you sleep, can I stay the night with you?" He'd playfully give me a hard time because I would keep him up all night... I was never able to contain my excitement in laying next to him. So, if he "took me back to his place," I'd always "try not to bother him." So adorable, eh?

In this song, I thought at first that going "home" meant going away from his loved one, but then I came to the realization that although he is expressing heartache, perhaps he wants to return to the comfort of the past when things were secure and unbroken.

When you break from a fall, you often yearn to be rebuilt by the very reason that you broke in the first place, that's just how we humans operate, it seems.

And in requesting this, the man learns that what he thought he could accomplish alone, he now needs the help of another. It's a beautiful revelation when one can realize in the midst of a fractured relationship that the strength of two people together is more profound than that of only one. Many people become bitter in the wake of loss, but the strong persevere and never lose the vision of Two versus One.

So this guy is admitting that he's a bit bruised, His sink is broken, his heart is broken, and he's admitting the strength in numbers, and he seems to be reaching out for a second chance. So vulnerable and sweet.

Am I close at all???

Brandi Carlile – Wasted Lyrics 16 years ago
Have you ever met someone.. he's a good man but a stubborn man. He doesn't know how to appreciate the quality in his life. And you stand before him and offer the best you can. But he foolishly rebuffs it, and you can tell that he wants it but doesn't know, hasn't been taught, how to take care of a good love. He makes it through life in what seems to be a smooth ride, but you know that he is suffering the greatest of all because he's wasting the most genuine gift in the world: the love of another.

The Waifs – Here If You Want Lyrics 17 years ago
A sweet and simple song about longing for love, about patience for the things that matter the most, and continuing to show love even when it is not being well received. There is something so magnificent about the tune and the words of this song that in combination speak to the heart. A woman reminding her loved one repeatedly: I'm here if you want. Although he may be searching everywhere but the place in which she is, she still chants: I'm here if you want. Self-less love. Perhaps there is a scorned lover who is putting up walls for protection, and the woman who cares for him is trying to tear down these walls. And perhaps all she can do is wait patiently, show him love, and be available.
