Say Anything – Do Better Lyrics 16 years ago
Ooohhh man I love this song, it's easily the standout song on the new album on the first few listens, to say the least.

I particularly got a kick out of the first verse, and the "Debra's messing with your brain," as Debra Messing is the girl who played Grace in Will and Grace.

Overall just a great, catchy, feel good song, but with a message to present, and it's such an experience to listen to, I can't get enough of it.

Say Anything – Fed to Death Lyrics 16 years ago
Yeah really not sure what the first verse is about, the only thing I can think of is childhood obesity in American specifically, and the general lack of good parenting, perhaps specifically from parents who keep feeding their obese kids cake for breakfast and stuff.

The second verse is pretty clear. It's obviously about Jesus, and people who use his name in vain as moral justification to go to war and do terrible things that, ironically, the biblical Jesus would not have stood for.

And just to clarify, because the lyrics on that part are a little sloppy above, and I have the booklet, it goes

"There was a man from Nazareth
Who fools at war pervert."

I don't think it's a slight against religion in general, I think it's just a slight against people who misuse it. Great opening song, love the new CD so far.

Eminem – Insane Lyrics 16 years ago
I agree with most of those corrections, but I actually think that the original writer was right about the "ah, go f--- his brains out..." line, because when he's rapping he seems to switch his voice on that line as if it's the mother's response to the step dad's previous line ("I'll go handle this, of course, unless you object?" He's inviting the mother's response, and the next line is that response). Moreover, when he's imitating the step-dad's dialogue, he uses a lower kind of voice, which is in contrast to the high, nasally kind of voice Eminem uses when he's rapping in in the mother's dialogue, which I feel he's clearly using over the line in question.

It's a pretty good way to end the verse, at that, revealing that the mother's not oblivious to the molestation, she knows exactly what's going on and doesn't care.

Eminem – Bagpipes From Baghdad Lyrics 16 years ago
Also, that Nick Cannon "retaliation" was painful. If you're going to even dignify a string of horrible insults slung at your from an Eminem song with a response, you'd better come out swinging, not giggling like a little school girl and threatening to start a rap battle with one of the sickest lyrical minds in the business. Especially if you're the rap game equivalent of a retarded mickey mouse club member.

Eminem – Same Song and Dance Lyrics 16 years ago
My favorite song on the CD, I think.

Eminem's an odd case, for me. I can't say I really LIKE his lyrics, or nod my head saying "yeah, that's so true," like I do with most music I listen to and love lyrically, least of all in a song like this, haha. Rather, I find I like Eminem more in the way that I APPRECIATE his lyrics, and how much skill goes into it, and this song's a prime example of that. I almost approach him in a scholarly kind of way, I study his lyrical style, his rhyme patterns, and try to figure out how he comes up with half of this stuff, it's just crazy (in more ways than one).

I can't say I like the lyrics or relate to raping celebrities, but in this song, the last verse particularly, just has my head spinning and asking myself how the crap he did that. The way he manages to rhyme words you would never think sound the same is just crazy, I don't know how he does it. No one can quite do what Em does quite the way he does it.

I'm just glad Eminem's back on form after the dreadful outing that was Encore, yuck.

Eminem – Bagpipes From Baghdad Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm pretty sure that on the tail end of the first verse, where these lyrics say

"Nick, you had your fun I've come to get you when your sack got jumped"

I think what he's actually saying

"Nick, you've had your fun, I've come to kick you in your sack of junk"

As in, his balls.

Paul McCartney – Dance Tonight Lyrics 18 years ago
I don't mean to be a douche, but seriously... Paul McCartney is supposed to be one of the greatest musicians around, and he wrote this down and thought it would make a good song? It sounds like he made them up on the spot. Just really, really uninspired and phoned in lyrics.
