To answer Robotic Seizure, the title Chip Off The Block refers to the saying a chip of the ol' block. The phrase refers to any father's son who is or wants to be just like his dad, and this usually also infers father-son closeness. The father is the "block" (of wood) and the son is the "chip," so the son is of the same "wood block" as his father and is ergo very similiar. I think the guy in the song has gotten a little older and starts comtemplating his future and decides he would like a family. He wants the chip of the old block and a girl he can talk to. He wants to settle down. He knows this girl he has obviously experienced many things with and they are both. He asks her in the song to stop and realize they are made for each other and they both might be able to find happiness with each other before they both get too old. |
