Iced Earth – Ghost Of Freedom Lyrics 15 years ago
It's Veteran's Day today (or yesterday, whatever). If you think that you aren't free, then do something about it. The only important things in life are worth fighting for, and Iced Earth (Jon Shaffer) obviously knows this. Stop complaining that you aren't really 'free', you can do a lot more in America than you can elsewhere, especially in terms of minority and gender rights. If you don't appreciate America and our Veterans, then get the hell out of my country, we don't need you ingrates.

Epica – Design Your Universe (A New Age Dawns, Part VI) Lyrics 16 years ago
I agree, this is another great album by Epica. As for this song in particular, I think it just sums up the whole theme of the album, which are really Epica's main themes: independent thinking and questioning authority/society. But in particular its about technology- specifically nanotechnology and genetics, which are threatening to devalue our humanity. Although, it seems to be more on the negative side of the argument, making it seem all hopeless "So many people are full of hate..."

But, there are signs of this song being a wakeup call for people to fix the world's wrongs.

There are, now that I look at it closely, a whole lot of themes in this song. Hard to pick out just one. (Still an awesome song though)

Epica – White Waters Lyrics 16 years ago
Expanding on the siren theme, the siren beckons the guy into the waters, but maybe looks like a lost loved one. Since she is promising that he can be with her once again, he goes in. But, obviously this is to his demise. Hence, "For my mistake, I am to blame" (The mistake of being seduced by the siren) and "I give my life to have you near once again" (he died because he thought he would be with her again).

On another note, if the water is seen as a symbol for suicide, then Simone's part is easily interpreted as the side of him that wants to seek solace in suicide. The last line follows especially, with the same quotes as above. he knows he is to blame for it, but he just wants to give up life so he can die and hopefully be with her in death. If this interpretation is true, or if anyone else sees it as this way, then the last words are- to me - the most haunting "Will you forgive me?". Could be talking to the one he sacrificed himself for.

Iron Maiden – When Two Worlds Collide Lyrics 16 years ago
I guess I can see where the whole religious aspect came from, but I think everyone is looking into this WAY too far. Iron Maiden does a lot of movie/book/story interpretations and this is another one, about the great book "When Worlds Collide" look it up for some more info. If you're into sci-fi, its a great old one that is literally about what would would happen if Earth collided with another planet.
