I want love like the love he sings about. pure and reasoned. simple and beautiful. ahhh. this song brings out all my romanticism, and I have a lot of it. |

there's a quote by some theologian: "There's something narcissistic, in fact quite nutty, about being more concerned about godliness than about God." |

its about works within the church, about the church's masqurade. smile even if you aren't happy, feel passion even when you doubt, lie about being good, even when your not...that when it all comes down to it we've gotten so concerned about godliness we've forgotten God... let grace be our wind, because thats the only way to get us out of this. |

| Underoath – You're Ever So Inviting Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think this song is about the personal struggle in our faith, how we're just going through the motions "I use my lungs for everything but breathing" but haven't actually begun to live... "There's no room for cheating and being yourself Failure leaves such a bitter taste in their mouth" that in some ways its better to be fake and wear a mask than to admit that you really are a sinner and not all that righteous and be you even with all the failings. We're just living our lives ignoring all that Christ wants us to be, the life we truly could live if we desired him in our fullest and lived real, really lived who we are in him, "We turn the pages left to right." It's all about living but not really ever living. It's one of my favorite songs ever actually. |

| mewithoutYou – In a Sweater Poorly Knit Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"You're a door-without-a-key, a field-without-a-fence You made a holy fool of me, and I've thanked you ever since" "Or if I'm a crown without a king, if I'm a broken, open seed If I come without a thing, I come with all I need" "I do not exist, only you exist." oh goodness, I love those lines...in many ways they sum up the walk of my faith, or the way it should be. it convicts and encourages me consistently. Aaron is one of the only living strangers I can't wait to talk with in heaven. His intelligence makes me happy. |

| mewithoutYou – A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains Lyrics | 18 years ago |

to me, I think it means that we live our lives with the sense that we're alone, that we have some control over our lives, that we're unharmable, untainable, all powerful, even if it be unconcious that we think this. When the whole time God is looking on, loving us, watching us, hearing us. And in reference to the cross, we redicule him, we spit on him, we pertend he doesn't effect our lives, we pertend we're diests and he is no longer a part of this thing we call our lives. And yet he doesn't defend, he doesn't appear and say "behold, I am God bow down and worship me, for you are pathetic human beings who don't deserve me" or something like that, while that is in every way completly true. We think we're something special as we profane his name and he gives no defense. to sum it up. |
