I think that the terrible thing is what man is capable of ("it's what I keep inside, this is the crime that I've tried to hide"). We humans are able to corrupt anything, to "turn virtue to vice", through our deceitful nature. We lie and manipulate for personal gain. (Hear all my secrets, tell all the lies). So the great secret would then be that religion is just our way to justify actions, while in truth it is we who are wholly responsible for committing sins etc. |

Apart from the fact that it's a woman they sing about, the song makes me think about Jesus on the cross... Nails in her feet, wings nailed, deprived of voice (no one listens when he's on the cross), "why have you forsaken me?", The crown = that of thorns, Jesus' head is usually bowed down on crucifixes... Don't really know what to make of it though Awesong song, either way |
