I think the first verse is by the kid/teenager/youth, worrying/wondering about his/her future ("Where will I be tomorrow? Where will I be next year?") It sounds like things aren't going too well ("when things turn out this way") and his "motivation changes"... Maybe meaning... that he is now motivated to do something else cos of how things turned out? "Fell for the same trick twice" maybe means that the parent was snowed by the child twice. I think the 2nd verse is from a parent, saying it to their kid. Probably a wayward teenager/youth. The parent made mistakes and is trying to give the kid advice but he/she's not taking it. The kid's trying to drown out the parent by listening to the radio and maybe says something like "Okay, I'll do my work right now." So the parent says, "begin [your] RIGHT NOW today". Telling the child to stop procrastinating? I don't know that's just what it means to me now, cause i have a freaking shitload of homework to do and that's the first thing that struck me when i heard this song/that part. I can't figure out the rest, can anyone? I really wanna know what it means. |

Whoah, this song is GOOD. Ffffabulous lyrics. Pretty self-explanatory, about a guy who's sick of this girl (who's name, i suppose, is Adelaide, though that's the name of a place in Australia) who keeps stringing him along and giving him signs.. that she thinks he wants to see. Straightforward, cutting edge and perfect for when you have someone in your face who won't leave even though you tell them you hate them. I should send this to someone I know, the Player.. Love♥it |

Mistakes with the lyrics: 1. "and I hope you dream just like you do" should be "and I hope AND dream just like you do" 2. "that a sunshines sometimes for you" should be "a sun shines sometimes just for you" Its bout a guy who really likes this girl - as a girlfriend or a good/best friend, I cant tell. Either way he really cares for her & loves her just the same They're both ambitious ("I hope and dream just like you do") and a little rebellious ("sometimes we all bend the rules"). I think the girl's more ambitious than him though. His "hope[s] and dream[s]" aren't as noticeable as hers; "just like you do" suggests that hers are more... obvious/loud? Maybe she's just more vocal/expressive about them, so he points his out this way. The girl is dreamy and out of this world (to him anyway - "You know sometimes, circles run around you") as seen from "Say the things you say, and you're dreaming like you do". She has big ambitions which lie outside the town they live in & I'm guessing they live in a small unknown town ("You love to live to hate this town"). She prob thinks its cool to hate their town. "goes to California" - Hollywood I guess to realise her dreams. "Yeah we've been here twice before You want it to mean so much more And I hope that everything goes through" -> Their hopes/opportunities have come around twice before, but the previous ones didn't work out, so she "want[s] it to mean so much more" this time. He, for her sake, hopes she succeeds. He misses her though. He tries telling himself "California [is] not so far", & thinks about her constantly ("wonder where you are"). I can't really figure out "And you wish upon a star, two thousand miles doesn't seem so far" though. It could be that she misses him too, and 2000miles doesn't seem so far to her cause she's imagining/wishing he's there with her, OR she wishes for her dreams to come true, 2000miles doesn't seem so far between her & her dreams? OR 2000miles doesn't seem so far to him cause HE's imagining she's with him. ♥ |
