| Björk – I See Who You Are Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| She's talking from the third person. I doubt it's about her daughter because of the whispered 'lover'. She's talking from her lover's POV. | |
| Björk – Atlantic Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This is a song that got too little attention in my opinion. It's light, simple and gorgeous, like a breezy summer day. Anyway. I suppose that I should thank my friend for giving me a little eiffel tower from his trip. While there are probably millions of these keyrings out there, mine feels specials. Perhaps because of my memories of Paris? |

| Björk – Holographic Entrypoint Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I'm not convinced that it represents anything beyond the need of the film DR9. There are interesting ideas about the holographic nature of reality highligthed here. I should point out the contradiction of 'holographic entrypoint', as every point is the whole. There are many ideas of conflicts, by the numerous oppositions (knife, cut, flense, occidental vs oriental, north vs south, the disposition of the stenzas and the cutting of verses by commas, nature vs humans, ground vs see). It is seen also that the conflicts are resolved eventually by their unity. All in all a very intellectual piece, which for being so visceral in description lacks the actual appeal to the real stuff, ie my gut. I've been told to always say something positive if I must criticize. I would then say this piece belongs to a poetry collection. It is a well crafted but the wording and intent are confusing for most people. Singing this cannot be easy. In a poetry book however, true seekers would rejoice at such a find. |

| Björk – Bachelorette Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I'm amazed to find such keen insights on this songs. I feel most of you are very close to the actual meaning, if by actual meaning we agree that it's what Bjork thinks she means when she sings. I'm very thankful to EmCes Sol to have clarified the Icelandic part. I have modest skills in that tongue and your explanation makes complete sense. He wants to be there, but like animals often have difficulty overcoming their fears of us humans, those fears which we can all fall victim to seems to have haunted him. Here's to hoping that the fears will melt, the beak will wet and the whale goes forth. The lyrics 'I'm your one way street' shows that she's speaking to her soul mate or twin soul. This imagery is reflected by reflection itself 'the whirl, the stream, the tide, bay, water' all silvery surfaces, which can show her image to herself and his image to himself, which show us that while looking at each other, they are looking at parts of themselves. Sorry about that sentence, but it's hard to simplify. To deny your twin soul, then is one of the harshest mistake on can make, which can only result in pain and confusion. This 'twin soul' angle can easily be verified against the video. Here's a sample from the Bachelorette special. Here's a short sample. 'MY STORY by Isobel the Bachelorette One day I happened upon a big book buried deep in the ground. I had been walking through the forest, searching for mandrake and the rare mushroom of everlasting love. Few books find their way to my part of the world so I picked it up and dusted the earth of its massive cover. From beneath the dirt appeared a faded photograph of a young woman. The young woman was I.' Congratulations to Sjon for these lyrics. While she told him the essence of the story, he managed it far better then I would dream of doing. Love to you, also, Sjon, poet forgotten for the dazzling of the star... |

| Björk – Aurora Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Moments of shine refer to periods of time when we are uniquely open and inspired by the outside/inside world. The song then would refer to one unique incident that she describes in this song. This is very close to mystical inspiration. I would not be surprised that she lied about this being from her childhood. Very few people would come right out and say "Yes, I'm writing about a mystical experience in which I found bliss." Mystics have unfortunately, pretty bad reputations, barely a step or two above kooks and raving madmen. There's clearly an element of prayer and over coming pain by asking the Goddess, followed by the body of the prayer or revelation. I would suspect she found something truly majestic on that trek. All this revelation would contrast nicely against the 'utter mundane'. I've never heard that version, but I take it it existed before. Anyway, whatever she saw/felt, it must have shook her universe. And maybe someone else as well ('Spark the sun off'). I'm quite puzzled by the spark the sun off. Any guesses? |

| Björk – Vertebrae By Vertebrae Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Oh, how that pressure kills the soul! There is nothing gentle or sweet As the kindled flame Swiftly swept by winds unseen Buffeted and battered As one seeks higher ground. The 'please release' is both the most truthful and heartfelt part of the song. There is a tremendous paradox in wishing to be less seen. Can there be another way? Possibly. |

Who is crueler to man then man, except lawyers? Who is stronger for unity? bjork.com/unity. Could there be a stronger sign? |

| Björk – It's Not Up To You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Ah, the beauty of destiny in action. Our best aims often thwarted and the lingering sadness these things throw off. It's reassuring to tell yourself you are not in charge. It's a sanity check. It's also a contradiction with "It's in our hands". Or maybe not. Individually, we may be weak, together, we are stronger. |

| Björk – I Remember You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| There is nothing stronger or better then making a wish and having a shooting star. Normally, it's the other around, but wishing first makes it so much more intense. | |
| Björk – Hidden Place Lyrics | 18 years ago |

There is something unorthodox about the situation she found herself in. She doesn't know what to do with the love. She clearly feels it, and one would hope that the object of her desire feels the same way. This is indicated by the 'cord of care' as cords can be seen to resonate and to strings close in frequency will eventually match each other perfectly. But what about the situation? The boy isn't there. He's hiding, in the air, a phone call away, in a sanctuary maybe he's recluse, or deeply in tune with nature and out of reach. There's a great deal of tension, in missing a chance to touch. The longing for touch seems exceedingly strong. And the praise she gives him is quite mighty. Who knows how many close calls have nearly (re)united them? |

| Björk – I Miss You Lyrics | 18 years ago |

There's about a million things I could say about this song. How much do I love Ren and Stimpy? (Terminal Stimpy, the remake of Modern Times and of course happy happy joy joy) Oh, I make a decent Stimpy too! It was cheers and love when I saw the video. If any of you know about 'The Secret', you'll recognize the three steps to wish granting right here. Bjork earned my respect when she started to give the recipe for magic and wishes to the masses. Of course, I'm not sure many people (consciously) understood that message. I take it she was quite surprised when she stopped waiting and she saw him. But how could that be, since she was given foreknowledge of him? |

| Björk – All Neon Like Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I remember an interview she did on the radio all these years back. She was talking to him about some stuff and then she spurted out:"It's like a web, you all, all woven like a cocoon" That's paraphrasing, by the way, but I felt then and there that it was a wonderful streak of imagination, in seeing the cosmos as a string of webs. I'm quite attached to this song because I was recovering from a serious accident when it was released. "Nourish your turtlehearts" was a source of strength for me back then. Of course, hearing a gorgeous voice candidly whispering:"I'll heal you" held special meaning. "I'll cut a slit open", yes that's nice too, as a compliment to that scar I received for my hospitalization, as scar which, for anyone not asking the question, looks roughly like Iceland. That's right, I've been carrying Iceland for ten years now. I am also fond of the words "and they will assist us/cause we're asking for help". I feel the world is filled with generous souls, yet that energy has so few channels. Let the healing commence! |

| Björk – The Dull Flame of Desire Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I like this song because as I man, I can sing along Anthony. I manage it all except for being slightly lower in tone for 'greater still', although I do have a bit more richness to my voice. To his credit, Anthony's is cleaner. A good for a bad, I supposed. I change the lyrics slightly too as I sing, as a few lines, being translated from Russian, strike me as a bit unwieldy. "Like lightning streaking in the sky". That achieves a couple of effects which serves the song better. "When all is fired in a passionate kiss" This change allows the second part to flow better and the timing of the word to deepen in meaning. I've toyed with changing a few 'fires' early on to 'embers', so that over time, passion's flame would turn higher. Finally, add to the list of favorite words:'charm' which is joining such classics as 'sparkle' and 'dream'. Welcome 'charm'! |

| Björk – An Echo, A Stain Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
>From the boy's view She touched My arm And smiled >She thinks/He thinks One of these days Soon Very soon Love you 'til then Love you 'til then >Further in time Feel my breath On your neck And your heart Will race >He says Don't say no to me You can't say no to me I won't see you Denied >She thinks I'm sorry you saw that I'm sorry he did it An echo A stain A stain >She thinks I can't say no to you I can't say no to you Say nothing >A sacred union, without words Free falling Complete I think kidb is on the right track, by the ugliness of the word. I would add the 'echo' is a sort of movement to return to the source. The stain is anything pure which was spoiled, but obviously forgiven by the next words. All in all, Bjork, you've wrought a wonderful piece, with tantalizing complexity with an economy of words that leave plenty for the imagination. I wish your pain is not is vain. |

Keen insight Orange. Note to self to watch for your comments. There is an angle of evanescence and 'hiding in the air' in these lyrics also. Will he ever return to put her in her place? A very truthful song, underrated and most appreciated by all parties. |

| Björk – Desired Constellation Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I heard the song live, before the Internet was even showing anything about this song. I cried. I understand totally how it feels to have someone you trust, do something they think is in your best interest, but it is actually directly against your innermost wish. When we try to patch things up, we often turn to tarot or other divinations. I like the I Ching. It's unfortunate it was telling me for so long after the fact that there was nothing I could do about it. It takes time for healing, it takes time for growing, it takes time to mature. It even takes time to overgrow obsessiveness. Repeatedly. That wait is the epitome of excruciating pain. |

| Björk – I've Seen It All Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| For a long time, after the Eiffel Tower line, I was hearing "Paris was a sight on my very first day." Other then that, yes, it is song which can knock the air out of you. Be careful. | |
| Björk – Harm Of Will Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
What does this song mean to me? I like that question. It's not asking what the artist was trying to say, it's saying what it means to me. So let me spell it out for you, dear anxious audience. It's a song about an exceptional person, probably the same that's been referred to in the whole album. The 'nine she's' is an image of a cat, nine lives, but also a multiplication of desire. 'bought for me' means a special bond because of the previous anticipation. This goes with the expression 'I bought a lie' or 'I've been sold a lie'. So, she's already sold to that person. Then there is the whole sex bit. Quite clear. Most people here don't seem to notice that the sex hasn't taken place. The 'And if he' clearly speaks of conditional, and still unresolved, time. Then at the end, Bjork talks about feeling abandoned, telling her lover that he left without a care. But she hints that this individual has some type of power to reveal what she is truly like. |
