She will move on to other things and he's still going to wish she would see the good he is capable of. Losing someone has the tendency to make you think of what could have been, his anger not only stems from the past, but the future that will never happen.
Even if you ignore the biblical and deeply philosophical theories, this is powerful stuff. |

I saw them last night at Michigan State and Justin completely forgot the 2nd verse of this song. The rest of the band was making fun of him and they had to stop the song for a few minutes and Justin went on this wild little rant and he still couldn't remember "Frank fails to see the humor in my sad attempts at breakdancing in every bar along Lyndale Avenue" They just played through it after he couldn't get it right after a few tries. It was really funny and Justin apologized over and over the rest of the show. They still rocked and it was a fun show. |

the last stanza ranks among some of my favorite lines from Jack. this entire song seems to be about going out of your way to please someone you care about yet getting nothing but criticism in return ("you almost dropped me"). it is also about trying your hardest but getting shit on in return ("i got mud on my shoes")) |

The BIG FOUR included Woodrow Wilson of the United States, David Lloyd George of Britain, Vittorio Orlando of Italy, and Georges Clemenceau of France.
Anyways, I think this is pretty clear cut that it is about the auto companies. Their greed and lack of innovation has stifled the market and led to the collapse of Detroit, as well as Michigan's economy as a whole. This song becomes more and more relevant as time goes on. |
