She was persuaded as child to just give up on writing songs and trying to get them heard by her mother, but with the encouragement of her father she did it, and now she has wrote over 90 top ten hits, and is the most successful female song writer of all time. She wrote this song about her father..for always believing in her. | |

I don't know about what anyone else's interpretation of this song but i thought i best write mine before i loose my train of thought. My friend and I stayed up one night deliberating over this song as to its meaning. It seemed very obvious, but when you look into it its far more complex. This is my interpretation. His is saying that he likes the idea of love and misses it but its let him down so much. To be in a relationship under the demands of the public and fans just doesn't seem worth it. When he speaks of "I miss you love", he speaks of "you" as love itself, not a person nor thing, but love itself. And when he speaks of having no respect for it, its not aimed at anyone but that love has let him down, although he likes the thought of it, he just cant trust it anymore. He has no respect for it or any interest. Those are my thoughts on it at this current moment, my friend and I discussed this a far while back so i may be wrong in saying what i did. |

I think this song can be interpreted in a few different ways. The idea around September 11 seems very logical if you look into heaps, but i like to think i can relate to it on a different note. The first verse suggests a young person has been tormented by an event but trys and ignore it by acting like an 'adult' or something. However when the chorus begins i like to think its about 2 people in love that are scared of their future together and have undergone a lot of obsticals that seem to jeopardises their relationship but even when there frightened in this situation they are still brought together through there undying love for each other which is then also showed in the second verse when it says "Fighting because were so close". Although there relationship is complex and hot and cold i dont think they can see this life of war and terror and any disaster would be confronted without one another. It seems they've just got "believe" and everything will be alright, tomorrow will come, it may not be easy, but they can solder on knowing they have each other, no matter how complicated it gets. |
