Kurt himself said this song was inspired by a verse in the bible talking about sinners going to the lake of fire and not heaven when they die. first verse is about a lady being bitten by a werewolf and turning into one at a full moon "howling on the yellow moon" 2nd verse about people in denial and "good" and "evil" trying to take advantage of that its a kind of surreal song based on some real life antics |

to me this song is about someone who lives in a home where they feel unnoticed and neglected. They test this theory by leaving home, but they've left someone significant behind them; "..please forgive me but i won't be home again.." and theyre not sure if this person will even miss them, as states in the first verse. They feel like they've been forgotten and like they're insignificant and don't think anyone misses them so they dont bother coming home. "Though id die to know you love me im all alone isnt someone missing me?" they would even go as far as trying to kill themselves to get their attention and see if they cared but they know either way they're going to be alone. But they continue to ask the questions is anyone missing them, is anyone noticing that they're missing |
