i think this could be about first loves, but it does remind me of a friend i had a while ago who i loved so much i'd 'wipe away all of her tears' and stuff. this song could be taken on many a level but it does seem to be a relationship that's going downhill and he knows he should leave her but wants to hear her voice one last time, etc. it's really cute. |

this song has always meant SO much to me - it's just like a situation i was in really recently. i thought i fell in love with a boy who lives somewhere else than i do, and the letters we used to write and stuff.. well the whole thing about the distance - And I know that you hope for longer good-byes embracing for forever and falling in your eyes - that makes me think of leaving him at the train station and not wanting to leave because when i did it would all be over. the line about the envelope's scent is like that too, the paper and envelopes had a certain smell and i'd always feel closer to him when i could catch the scent. And you won't let me sink though I'm beggin you. is as though the person's saying something like, why are you with me ? what's so special about me ? and the person they're with is saying, because you're you and i love you, which is something that happened to me with this boy as well. Phone calls from further away and messages on my machine, but I don't ever tell you this distance seems terrible..... that line hits me so hard. unfortunately this song makes me miss people i shouldn't, but it is without a doubt one of the most beautiful songs chris has written and one of the most beautiful i've ever heard. WOOOH, long message ! |
