| Annuals – Down the Mountain Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Instead of "Then I feel through the trees" I think it's "fell through the trees," and instead of "How could you take my only answers when I ask for is you?" it's "ALL I ask for is you." Great song. |

| I love this song too, I had never heard it before I saw them perform it live and I LOVED it. I can see why it would seem as if he is bullying someone into loving him back, but the line "I'm begging you" makes me question that. And the "Lay me down/get the splinters out/one by one" seems more emotional than literal, if she decides to be with him it will heal his emotional wounds? Maybe? He says flat out "I'm gonna make you," but I don't know if it's as extreme as bullying. Absolutely love the song in any case. | |

| Coldplay – Death Will Never Conquer Lyrics | 17 years ago |

It definitely has a gospel-y (if not churchy) feel to it. Especially the lines One day death is gonna conquer me I'll be down where the waters flow I hope sweet heaven is the place for me It sounds like something right out of a bluegrass or gospel song. Maybe even a slave spiritual. That sets up an interesting metaphor- slave to slave hunter and human to Death. I don't know if it is an original or not but it is good as always. Coldplay, from time to time has used a sort of American southern sound, like in Til Kingdom Come, or Green Eyes (a little bit), but this is very evident of that style. Great song! |
