Breath it in and breath it out and pass it on it's almost out We're so creative and so much more We're high above, but on the floor I think that part could be about the very beginning of the drug path. most people start off with weed. so thats the very beginning before the person got into more. "breath it in and breath it out pass it on its almost out" your smoking, and as the joint/bowl gets smaller your thinking just a little more cause its almost out. "were so creative and so much more" maybe about how people sometimes get creative or have random ideas. or it could even be about moving along towards the other drugs. It's not a habit, it's cool I feel alive If you don't have it your on the other side in the first corus she doesnt say the last line [Im not an addict (maybe thats a lie)]. so maybe its not really an issue yet The deeper you stick it in your vein The deeper the thoughts there's no more pain I'm in heaven, I'm a god I'm everywhere, I feel so hot so that would be the part about heroine. theres no physical pain, or emotional. so life is "great". your at the place you always wanted to be in. if they did use this song, i doubt the whole thing was played. they may have just cut out a verse or two because seperatly they'd have a different meaning than with the rest of the song. i dont think this sounds much like an anti-smoking commercial because although it makes you see the pain and suffering shes going through, if this is steered at teenagers they wouldnt necessarily get the right point. it makes you not want to ever touch drugs again, but at the same time it depends what angle your looking at it from, cause it could just as easily make it about wanting to do drugs and advertising how great they are idk, im kinda baked now so i dont know but thats my take of it |

first off, not all catholics are drunks. and im pretty sure this song has nothing to do with catholics being drunks. i think hes saying that theyre the same in the sense where they do different things, that act as the same. like the catholics pray to god to save them, and rely on him to take their problems away day after day. while the drunks rely on the alcohol to take wipe away their problems time after time. either way, they refuse to deal with their own problems, so they rely on something else outside themselves to take them away to somewhere where they feel happier, or safer, or whatever the case may be. in his case, he chose to lose himself in slurred words and alcohol. maybe because of his past there may have been a lot of people who told him that hes gone the wrong way, or hes doing the wrong thing. maybe people who were close to him during his childhood/earlier on were catholic and looked at him with discust or as if he failed. thats just my intake on it. |

Maybe it means that a relationship was recently broken, or something valuable to him was lost and "take me to the riot" may mean that whatever he lost was a mess, but hed rather have the mess than what hes been left with. then at the end it says "and let me stay" meaning he doesnt want a temporary thing, he wants it to last. Someone mentioned the music video in which a boy is new in the city. so maybe he misses what he had back where he came from, or maybe since hes in the city and everythings so new, he doesnt hold back, and takes advantage of all the things in the city; drugs being one of them "pills enough to make me feel ill" then he realizes that you can have anything you want in the city as long as you have money. Maybe thats where the prostitute comes in, but im still not sure that theyre refering to that. Saturday nights in neon lighs Sunday in the cell this could mean that he parties hard on saturday, and suffers on sunday with the hangover from whatever it was that he took the night before. im tires so thats all i got for now, ill add onto it later. |

"Traveling, swallowing Dramamine" That may mean travelling though life and its tough and hes sick of life, so he takes dramamine to east the sickness. It may also mean that he wants to down his troubles away. "Feeling spaced, breathing out Listerine" Ive taken a lot of gravol before (basicly the same thing more or less as dramamine) and i felt really spaced out and disoriented. Maybe he mixed whatever he might have had with alcohol, and he wants to cover up the smell (or taste) of it. "We kiss on the mouth but still cough down our sleeve" This may mean that whatever's going on in his life isnt real, and although deep down he knows this, its a lot easier to be in denial than to face the truth. that brings us back to the "Travelling, swallowing Dramamine" which means he doesnt want to remember the truth, so for that particular moment he washes his troubles away. "Look at your face like youre killed in a dream And you think youve figured out everything" Although this hints at it being about someone else, it might have been on purpose because most people cant admit to things so it makes him feel better to just place the blame on someone else. Therefore this doesnt necessarily mean with someone else. Maybe he had a goal or a dream that he wanted to achieve but somehow messed it up because he was naive or thought he knew more than he actually did. "I think I know my geometry pretty damn well You say what you need so you'll get more" When i tripped on gravol, i saw a lot of random shapes, they werent colourful or anything but i saw a lot of geometric shapes and patters. so maybe hes trying to differenciate the difference between dreams (hallucinations) and reality When your high, no matter what it is your on, if you resist it you wont get as messed up as if you would if you just go with it. so he tries to push himself to the next level, even tho others may say that hes had too much he goes and takes more. "But i still cant focus on anything" This may either mean hes disoriented because of the high, or he cant pay attention to one particular thing so hes confused. Going back to the goal/dream, it may have also meant that he cant focus only on his goal, and is distracted by everything going on around him. I absolutly love this song. Modest Mouse is really good, and this is one of my favourite songs. I listen to it when im tripping and it soothes me. also a great song to listen to while trying to fall asleep.
