The Mamas & the Papas – Straight Shooter Lyrics 14 years ago
This song seems like a complete innuendo for heroin.

Brilliant analysis, TyPy, you dislike/disagree or are somehow discontent with this music or band in some way, therefore their lyrics were simply written with fridge word magnets, as there are not human beings behind the creation of text

Why are people even questioning if this is a cover? This is obviously a completely different set of lyrics

Lily Allen – I Could Say Lyrics 15 years ago
I just got out of an emotionally abusive relationship, and this one fits it wonderfully, I would be guilt tripped away from my friends and family, and now that I'm out of it, I do feel older, wiser, and that the whole world is my stage to explore, be free, be myself

Amanda Palmer – The Point of It All Lyrics 16 years ago
I really want to go ahead and say this song could very well be about someone with a drug problem, it seems to fit the whole song perfectly, "It's better to waste your day watching the scenery change at a comatose rate" is very similar to the effects of being high, "Oh, but no one can stare at the wall as good as you, my babydoll" I live near a lot of heavy drug users, and this just seemed to hit the nail on the head. This song means a lot to me, at least through my interpretation, because my boyfriend is a stoner, he just seems to spend a lot of time sitting around. I love him to death, but he definitely uses it to cope with his daily life. It's not heroin, but I've gotten enough of a preview of that from my neighbors.

Shiny Toy Guns – Shaken Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's about smoking.

Running in circles
Chasing pain
Of yesterday
Shaken...fearful
Because I've come
Back for what is trouble
Running in circles maybe in his head, wanting to quit or wanting to cure yesterday's pain (nicotine withdrawals) Shaken because he's getting stuck into an unhealthy and dangerous addiction.

I will wait it out
I will not be shaken
Facing the symptoms, rejecting peer pressure or urge.

Strange calls to meet those
Who feel and know
How to give up
The stage lights
And heroes
Seeking help despite the very tempting and glamorous habit.

Razor pain
Rubbed it all away, love
Pain of fighting it and this might be a stretch - but rubbing it away as in maybe taking meds or doing other things to suppress it.

Didn’t notice it right away
Didn’t notice it until it was too late
Didn't notice he was addicted until he faced the pain

I’m gonna change my desire
For your all consuming fire
People are just consuming something harmful, and he's going to have to learn to desire the opposite

Didn’t wanna cry out at night
Didn’t wanna stop at mid flight
He didn't want to have already made the mistake and feel the guilt, and he didn't want to have to stop when the addiction has already began.

I didn't plan for the fall
When I was running from it all...
He didn't plan to get addicted because he had already been trying to get away from smoking. It's like the one time he tries it he gets sucked in, falls.

Have I no evil
Citizen Cain
Slowed-- my desperate running
This also might be a stretch, but "Have I No Evil" seems sarcastic, kinda mocking the fact that he's fully responsible and it's no-one else's fault. Citizen Cain was a movie about a man who "started at the top and worked his way to the bottom" and it's set up so in the beginning he is dead and it goes through his life and the shame from his friends and family for his downfall... His desperate running, his evasion from the habit is greatly slowed by this addiction.
