Expo 86, the world's fair, he is referring to a ride there and using it as a metaphor to explain how he wants his turn to be with this girl he likes. this girl he likes prob always has a boyfriend and he is stuck in the friend zone still if she breaks up with him. hes waiting for sumthing to go wrong because he wants to be with her. it sounds like he might have been with her before briefly and now they are just friends because he has a book on the shelf, prob of pictures or love letters or somethin like that. it sounds like she has relationship issues and he is always there to console her, hence the names of the guy she was in a relationship in doesnt matter because they are all the same. she is probably dating jerks. he is getting tired of this happening over and over again, hence the cycle bothering. if he gives up on her, he will "lose his place in line". the anticipation of being with this girl prevents him from leaving. |

I think this song is about reflecting on life and how good it was to you. He's got his girl and they were free spirits back in the day, and now they are growing older and maturing. It sounds like he doesn't have the girl anymore with the line "And you left me here, letting freedom tear us apart." The chorus just like me, just like we are supposed to be, is saying that she was supposed to stay still be with him, living their lives together like they planned originally. This song is awesome, I love this band. Rock and Roll Band has an awesome live version. My buddy actually met these guys at a show at the Canopy Club and chiefed sum herb and drank sum beers, these guys are a really talented underground band. |

this song really hits home. i can relate to it because it describes a lot of how i feel right now. all i know is how much i love my ex and all i think about is getting her back and then everything would be fine. i probably had the opportunity to get her back but didnt play my words right. and now its the summer and i never see her and i feel so alone and almost numb. my ex is the signal fire in my life, shes the only one in my eyes that could make me feel happy again. i dont wanna wait forever either |
