Why does every Megadeth vs Metallica thread end in some stupid argument. I thought the point of the site was to discuss the meaning of a song, not to banter over which band is better. That being said I have always preferred Megadeth over Metallica simply because I felt Metallica was just a shadow of themselves after Black Album. And especially after hearing that god awful "memory remains" song, i decided once and for all i was done with metallica. Not to say Megadeth hasnt had a few sinkers of their own (look at Risk and with the remixing of a tout le monde with that lacuna coil singer from the new album, I'm VERY sceptical of it) but I digress. The point of the site should be discussing the menaing of song. Not to talk shit to each other on a message board, being mouthy to people who are probably halfway across the country and that you will never see. |

To me is sounds like maybe they were dealing drugs "down by the schoolyard" yet, upon reviewing the lyrics and thinking about it, perhaps its is about a homosexual relationship. either way great song. |

i remember reading somewhere that this song was written about the 1970's punk scene coming to an end. basically all these kids who were into the punk scene were just following along in order to belong to the group hence the lines "Someone told me being in the know is the main thing. We all need the security that belonging brings" To me, it's about realizing that going along with the group just to fit in is never worth it and eventually the "Novelty" will wear off. |
