I feel like this song is about a girl being constantly raped, or molested by the same guy. "And it's a poor boy who's alive at best And mistakes the pulse inside his chest For the cartiledge between his legs And it's all he knows It's all he knows" I feel like this stanza is like that saying, "he thinks with his penis". Alive at best, he wants to just have sex all the time, because it's all he thinks he is supposed to do with this girl. "And it's a sad girl who sits and cries Mistakes true love for brutal lies And a warm wet tongue in between her thighs It's all she knows All she knows" She only knows this guy for sex, and she won't stand up for herself and say enough is enough. All she knows is the lies that he feeds her and it's all she ever hears. He constantly wants to have sex with her and she probably wants more. "And he wonders what she hides in those bags under her eyes The secrets of the sleepless nights she spent with him Since she let him in" He thinks about the sleepless nights he's made her have, where he was inside of her, probably not by choice. Ever since the first time they had sex. He wants to know what she is thinking when she looks in the mirror when she sees the bags under her eyes. They only have sex and it just isn't right, the guy is commiting a sin, burning as in hell? She's crying saying she wants this to end and she's completely done. She doesn't want to live this Broken 'Lie' and doesn't want this to continue. I think Broken Hands probably might symbolize the broken feelings she has towards the guy. She was probably close to him until he hurt her the way she did. |

isn't it sort of obvious? they had a date and went to the movies... they assumably madeout. he wanted to maintain the relationship but she just wanted a hookup.... and he's saying that basically, make-out kids can't be friends after things like that. I love this song, it's so catchy, one of my first Format songs. I feel like this song has something to do with Nate's father's sickness. "I can’t stand to think about A heart too big it hurts like hell Oh my god, I gave my best For three whole years to end like this" I know in the song On Your Porch, Nate talks about his father's sickness for three years. hmm.. I don't know, that's just my opinion on this song. |
