I've been to both CONTINENTS and I concur that they do indeed have a multitude of vibrant cultures, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that Florida does not have any. It's hard to have as strong and unified of a culture as any of the nations in Europe when you are 1) a state, 2) relatively young in the grand scheme of human history, and 3) a myriad of multi-generational immigrants. Just because you have to dig a little deeper to find it doesn't mean it's not there. Also and in addition, being America's #1 choice for place to die does not help, even if it does inspire awesome shows like The Golden Girls :P |

What's so incredibly racist about your comment is how every black person in America fits into your one category. All black people are ignorant, have an ongoing war against whites, and are poor because they are living off welfare with 6 kids. Classy. One important thing to remember about this song is who's singing it, and who it's meant to be for. This song really is not for everyone, it is a celebration for black Americans. There have been 43 white presidents, the fact that the 44th is black is not nearly as meaningful to white Americans as it is to blacks. This song is not celebrating Obama on his merits, but on his skin color, and seeing how far this country has come in order to have its first black president. It may seem and actually is a bit racist, but looking at America's struggle with its minorities it's really hard to understand how meaningful this moment is without actually being in their shoes. My one dislike of this song is the line about no presidents ever doing shit, but there is some truth to it. Most presidents did not help blacks out of the kindness of their hearts, they did minimal changes that were greatly restricted in order to avoid public backlash. But that's just my own qualm. As for your accusation of Obama being corrupted, wow, just wow. Of course all politicians are inherently a little tainted, your particular logic seems a little crazy. Where did he get money? Well, first of all, not all blacks are poor *gasp* not to mention the fact that Obama has a diverse demographic of supporters. Everyone is inherently a little bit racist and it's really up to the individual to sort that out. So uh, better get started there hoss. <3 |

This is a fantastic song, I can't get enough of it. But why all the hatred for Florida? I've lived here all my life and it is truly a beautiful and amazing state. Too many people come here and just look at the tourist traps and judge the entire state by that but there is a lot of history and culture here if you would only take the time to see it. Horrible shit can happen to you anywhere, and I think that the song is just about what happened in Florida, not that the actual place sucked. |
