"Chasing the Ghost" is a term used with drug addicts when they are trying to describe that first feeling of eurphoria when they first get high. By 'chasing the ghost' they are trying to achieve this eurphoria which is often impossible, hence the saying. But, yes this song is refering to addiction |

The meaning of the song has already been said. However, there is a verse missing that says: "No pain, no gain, no sane Not today, ice cube in hand To numb this pain" Which refers to a common alternative instead of cutting, which is holding ice until it melts to provide with a painful sensation. |

| I see this song as being though the perspective of someone who has passed away. However, they are still lingering in the physical world and are looking in on the one's they love (who are still living) and reminding them that they aren't that far away. | |

Not really sure if I've got this quite right, but I think this refers to the poem Annabel Lee (Edgar Allan Poe) and how he believes his love Annabel Lee died because the angels were jealous of the couples love. He felt betrayed by the angels and I think this shows in lines such as "God had His favourite angel Wearing a wire that night" and "I know the taste of ice, As it shifts and breaks." To me, this lines hint at the feeling of betrayal, as Poe felt. However, the poem "Annabel Lee" also states the two lovers souls will never be seperated, which for me is shown in the "Wait for me" |

I agree about it being about depression. I really like the reference to both the water and Ophelia. Very clever, as Ophelia was said to have died by drowning therefore the "weight of water on my soul" fit well together in my opinion. That's my thoughts on this song anyway. |

To me, this song is about losing yourself. You look back on how you used to be, the innocence you used to have and the dreams you once dreamt and you just wonder how much things can change or what happened to that person you used to be. I think it is about growing up and losing that childhood innocence through the hardships of life and not being able to find it. |
