What follows has lead me to this place where I belong, with all erased is probably about the white light people who have been in the emergency room go on about...and imbrued bein the bath water soaking hinm?..thats a stupid idea but its all i can think of.. All insects sing tonight The coldest sound I'd send God's grace tonight Could it be found? hes alone at night and can hear the crikets .. because theres nothing in his life to hear over that and so he feels god has no grace because of his rut he is stuck in I'll lay me down tonight Much further down Watch stars go out tonight On sinking ground the sinking ground is probably another reference to drowning..maybe he also has a high oppinion of himself...by saying this art does drown..considering himself a work of art...and stars..bein him i think hes killing himself in spite of a girl.. for some reason i get the impression that the songs called girls not grey because it is actually just a song about being dumped.. |

this is the only song ive heard off this band..so i dont know what they normally write songs about but it seems like a bit of a emoish song about a guy whos seeing a girl who is already taken (so loosely devoted) and i get the feeling its his friends girlfriend,and they are wanting to be together and for the girl to leave his friend...but hes aware that the situation is tough,so he wants to be sure hes right... just a guess tho... |

im guessing open water means being single...and water maybe linking with the the plenty more fish in the sea saying. i think its about having a crush when your already seeing someone,and wants reassurance that he has somone to go to afterwards for fear of being alone and leaving his partner for nothing. |

i think the song is abour how he is glad that his marrige was over in some ways but still is struggling to let it go,'i should have burried all my dead up in her cemetery head' could mean that he could have started a new after the divorce but he is still the mess that dita turned him into...and the chorus seems to me like he was choosing to act how she wanted him to than his fans,'blow out the candles on all my frankensteins' could mean that he didnt care about his fans any more,frankensteins being a metaphor for the fanbase that dress like goths and act creepy,and his deathwsh being his label as a satanic idol and a bad influence on teens. the rest of the chorus seems to be about how it seemed okay at the beggining but in the end he wasnt happy, 'i shoud have picked the photograph it lasted longer than you' suggests that he should have stuck with being just a fan of ditas than actually marrying her. |

its no secret that daniel johns was depressed and bullied in his younger years....and he wet into depressed state for a while....and he said he didnt have a phone and couldnt stand to hear them ring... i think this is about hopeint for a change in the dark times like that |

in long hard road out of hell he briefly mentions that it is about giving in to temptations.. i think the speed bump mannequin him looking at someone who does resist temptation and conform to expactations of socity and saying that they are either fake..just like a mannequin..or having there style and image controlled by other people....and also i think it means that if we didnt give in to things that were comonly branded wrong then we will not be doing much at all i think the speed bump adjective is just a way of saying that by conforming to the hear and now that people are stopping an advance in either evolution or society or whatever...or it may be more simple and sayong that people like that are annoying and just get in the way... |

'Is love only sweet when One of us dies?' i read that line and it set the whole concept of the song for me..and ive noticed a few references to car crashes on the album...i cant remember as i only got it today and have listened to it twice but the video for heart shaped glasses has a car crash in it.... i think this song is saying that his relationship is ffalling apart..but... if he causes an accident killing his girlfriend then he will be assured that she will never be able to leave him and still be alive as a reminder of there time together... i know im probably way off...and it doesnt really fit the concept of the album completely but thats what i took it as when i first read the lyrics.... |
