This song means a hell of a lot to me. It's such a personal song, I can relate in a few ways. I think its so powerful because alot of people can experience this at some point. My best friend means the world to me and we are that close and talk about absolutly everything, shes my soul mate and if only I could meet someone that I connect with as much as that. I I wish for long lingering glances Fairy tale romances every single day I think this part of the song is the best, they are beautiful words and something we all wish and dream about. |

| OMG what ludicrous and unmeaningful posts. It is pretty obvious what this song is about. It is obviously a personal experience and he is singing about someone close to him who is dying. They are in pain. They are aching. Everybody else is changing around this person and growing and yet this person is stuck somewhere. The singer says 'so little time' this means that this person does not have much time left soon to disappear in to the light. Read the words you neanderthols!!! | |

| I think this song is amazing. Nelly has the most amazing way of making her lyrics sound so real. This song is about taking life for granted. Knowing that there are good things in your life and rushing throught too fast to see them. When she talks about dogs barking at the moon she means werewolfs barking at full moon their time coming to an end. Meaning that they are in a rush to get back to what they once was. Am I making any sense haha? Its basically saying that everything good in our lives is being missed because we are all daydreaming for a better one. Then those things will come to an end. It uses metaphors such like flames to dust meaning someones body being cremated or something being burned, something good and then being turned into dust. It also so says lovers to friends. Being lovers is so good but it always results in going back to being friends and so it has come to an end. Thats my opinion. | |

I think this song is dedicated dto his mum. Bono is talking about his birth and his life influences. What makes him strong and who its because of. I was born a child of grace Nothing else about the place Everything was ugly but your beautiful face And it left me no illusion I think this means he was born into an ugly world one that makes him want to go back inside and the only thing beautiful he saw was his mothers. I saw you in the curve of the moon In the shadow cast across my room You heard me in my tune When I just heard confusion Here he is seein his mum in the shadows of his room again there for him looking and caring for him. Guiding him through his life, Hes confused about whats going on around him yet as his guider his mum helped him to become who he is now and heard him in his tune. Shes in his music. All because of you All because of you All because of you I am… I am I think this verse is telling his mother that it is all becasue of her he is who he is and is where he is because of her. Yes it could also have a more spiritual meaning but refering to god as he is talking to his mother and what she has allowed to become of him and how she made this happen for him. My theory sort of phases out towards the end of the song then because the next two versus confuse me a little. Dont forget Im only putting across my opinion on what I think this song means and what it means to me. Yes it too could be about Ali but I don't think it is because its about his birth and his guidance through life. Bono is a really emotional individual and he writes about things that matter to him. this is something upclose and personal. I think it is saying his mum is the only who can see deep inside him and know what cracks he has and how to set him on the straight and narrow again and is the only one who makes him a whole person again/ or this could mean his wife not sure. Dont know guys just a theory.... |

For me this song makes me think real hard about life. It is such an Intense song and has the most amazing lyrics. It really makes you think about the person singing it and the experience that he has been through. I think most song lyrics come from personal experiences and so I think sometime in his life the songwriter has been in the position that is being described in the lyrics. I think this drug addict/teenager was maybe a personal friend. I think their friendship got lost through all the pain and arguements. It reminds me at the beginning of maybe hes gone to see someone like a shrink or something. For example where he says "He smiles politely back at you" then it says "You smile politely right on through". This reminds me of someone who is just doing their job and not really caring about the real problems that this kid is going through. It then goes on to say "Some sort of window to your right". this reminds me of someone being sat in a strange room talking to a strange person and hes looking round wondering wat the hell is going on I don't want to talk. Hence "You begin to wonder why you came". The singer/songwriter is obviously singing about someone going through this problem whom maybe he knows personally. I think the singer/songwriter then goes on to say that he lost this particular friend because he didnt know what to do for him. Didnt know what to say to him. He would have if he could have stayed up all night with him but he didnt have the chance. In his song he is saying that hes hoping to God he listens to his advice and all of a sudden the friendship starts to get bitter. Its a truely meaningful song and to me it makes us think about our own friendships and to maybe appreciate them abit more because sometimes it can be too late. It makes me want to make the effort more with my friends and not to have any that Im mad at. |
