Personally, I feel as if the song is touching base with our sub conscious levels. Apparently Brandon feels as if when he is weak his ego is turned on, this could be due to the fact that he is angry or maybe big headed. When this happens his personality changes to one that he feels is bad, and he call upon his friends to remember how he was in another, better, ego state. Those who are closest to you know the real, better, you. And only they can dig that real you out when you change for the worse. Great song, great meaning. |

Not just by police violence but by the whole political system at the time. When he states "through political strategy the keep us hungry and when you want to get some food, your brothers got to be your enemy", he is really saying how messed up the system is that its causing brothers to turn on brothers. |
