| I always figured the "Museum of Idiots" were all of her ex boyfriends. I agree with CecilaDarling and TG said. Although she has left him already; the guy is still waiting around for her to come back. I have to say that I've been a member of one of my ex's "Museum of Idiots" before, and you truly do not realize how big an idiot you are to be waiting around until all is said and done. | |

TMBG are usually pretty straight forward on their lyrics. Seems to me to be about underground disco/techno night clubs. TMBG are from New York and there are a number of clubs that pop up in unusual places; since the stores or buildings are not meant to be clubs it can be frustrating, there's usually no tables or lockers to place your things; since it's not a permanent establishment there's no uniforms for the employees running the club; often the sound levels are off and there's no way to hear anything. At first the lyrics state: "Baby check this out I've got something to say" "When they stop the drum machine and I can think again" But change to "Baby check this out I've got something to say" "When they start the love machine and I can laugh again" Perhaps what he has to say is that he loves the person he's going out with? |

1. What do you do with the pieces of a broken heart? 2. How can a man like me remain in the light? 3. If life is really as short as they say then why is the night so long? To question one I think the answer is to learn from it and share what you learned with others. As for question two, remain in the light refers not only to remaining pure of heart but also refers to question three about night and darkness. So how can a man like him remain in the light? He can't, yet he can. He can't because the night will eventually come (he will eventually die of old age). Yet he can, because there will be someone else to come after him, just as the present old man replaced the past old man when he was young, and the current heartbroken man ends up replacing the present old man by the end of the song. I think the answer to question three can be found by reading the last two answers. It is an infinite cycle. Death (the long night) is defeated, and you remain forever in the light. |
