I can't believe that no one has commented on this song, it is my favorite New Buffalo song. I think that it is musically and lyrically perfect. Her voice is so beautiful, light, and fits wonderfully with the lyrics.
The song is obviously about someone who is always able to lift her up. She recalls the wildflowers in the park and the summer that they spent together. This person is able to cheer her up and this song is a song of thanks for making her life brighter. |

I think that this song is about a girl that the narrator used to be with. She is in his museum, as in she is one of his past conquests. He is still in love with her, even though they are broken up now (or were separated some other way). Every day her presence in his life is further and further in the past. "Every day feels the same fading in a frame."
As time goes on, she changes into someone he hardly knows "Dresses up as everybody else a different echo every time." She reminds him of one of his friends who is constantly drunk and is falling into a downward spiral "But you remind me of a friend, though I met him falling out a window." His friend is "a professional pretender" meaning that his friend is always lying about who he is and how he feels. He is never himself anymore. |
