Interesting point there starwanderer, could easily be identified with Tarja's role in the band and her relationship with Toumas. Definately this song is about Tarja's dismissal from the band. No ifs or buts about it. Sidenote: Marco is just f'ing bestial in this song. Rawr! ;) |

That's interesting info from Brian, Kimbley. True, the preceding albums were completely depressing and unhealthy, marred by bouts of drug abuse and the like. Meds was a coming clean time, growing up, facing the music, looking back on what life was....and battle for the sun is possibly a new dawn, a new start in Placebo. I can't wait! |

I agree with freckle93. I think a huge influence on this song was when Steve Hewitt left the band due to "musical differences". I'm devasted actually, I've missed 4 placebo concerts and now I'll never see them in their original form. I didn't like the song at first, but it has grown on me. In the song is a kaleidoscope of sounds spanning from Placebo selftitled to Meds. You can even hear the industrial sound of Black Market Music in there if you listen closely. It's not a bad song. It's sing-song. It's cheeky. It's taunting. I definately feel it's a lot about Steve's departure. |

This song reminds me of one viewing oneself from another perspective. A Mirror? A Window? But the whole idea about the Hollywood thing, The Stars That Lie To You. Good suggestion from someone who suggested it. It's about maybe what you do from what others sell you. Starving. Drinking. Drugs, Etc. And all you are, with all these ideals, alone.
