this is obviously about bush. "touch the divine as we fall in line", bush spoke of a mission given to him by god to stop terrorism, and he gains support by playing upon the beliefs of a nation whose population is mostly christian. the entire 4th stanza of the song is about the reasons of the war in iraq. oil. and bush will not stop until he has what he wants |

the first 3 lines of each stanza are warnings against denial. the third line of each stanza warns against the shortage of time each person has in order to do whatever it is they are soppose to do in their lifetime. the 4th line in each stanza are complete turnarounds to the message of the first 3 lines. They are denials "im too old to dream", "im too young to care", "im too young to see". In respective order they are basically denials in the ability to think for oneself (as one gets older, they become more entangled in the responsibilities as an adult, such as a family, a job, ect. not that this is a bad thing though); the acceptance of apathy, ignorance and shortsightedness in world events (children are more intrested in fun, getting good grades, and appeasing their parent); the denial to accept whats in front of us. This song holds great meaning because it applies to the hipocrisy of the common person. Everyone is saying "we should do this" or "we should fix that", but never actually bother to do it themselves. |
