this song means SO much to me its hard to listen to but i remains one of my favourite songs of all time. i fell in love with coldplay when they released 'a rush of blood to the head' and proceeded to buy all of their albums. but none of them mean as much to me as amsterdam. i was going through a really hard time, with horrible home life and even worse social life i was quite literally reaching the end of the noose, stood on the edge so to speak. and then, in a sad, but touching way this song came along and cut me loose and life was suddenly bearable just by recognising the beauty and depth of the lyrics and chris martins piano playing. this song is amazing. thankyou, coldplay. |

| i think this song means something different to anyone as its so open. to me, it reminds me of when i moved house across the country from norfolk to yorkshire. i had only just settled down in a newish school and made really good friends and this song always makes me think of the conversation i had with my best friend just before we drove away from my life. it was tough and having a song that is so similar to how i was feeling really helped, i know its primarily a love song but i looked a little deeper and found something really comforting. i love songs like this, they really get me here. (hand on heart) its been about five years now but this song still makes me cry. | |
